Good things always come fast but sometimes it works the other way, not often but this surely is the case for Groovecollection records. For us it started probably about ten years ago when we met. With .. we .. I mean Jerry van Schie who is the proud founder of the GC messageboard and myself, Peter van Hal. I know Jerry from years back, when I first started buying his mix tapes under the name of Groovecollection. I still have them and still love them, I actually have a cassette deck just for that purpose at my office! Quality tapes and later cd..s that showcased the best of progressive house available mixed in an impeccable way by Jerry himself. A connoisseur of fine music and if you take a look at Jerry..s collection then every title can be considered a classic by now so one can..t argue about Jerry..s taste! Meanwhile I did my thing which was taking care of Extrema..s line-up..s and my recordlabels, Deep , Deep Focus, DK, DK House and Extrema. Never loosing touch years have been passing by and we..ve seen many names come and go, both with dj/producers as well as clubbers. Maybe we are just doomed as it looks that it..s a permanent thing that we stay true to our 4/4 roots. The last 2 years Jerry has been highly successful with his messageboard ( www.groovecollection.nl ), an independent Dutch platform for anything relating to good dance music. On this forum you can find a podcast show with exclusive live- and promo-mixes, cd and vinyl reviews.
Some months ago Jerry started talking again about a recordlabel and it all made sense all of a sudden. We know each other's taste and trust each other's ear so we started looking and talking as over the years one can say that we got to know some people that shared our passion and more importantly, people that can deliver the goods which in our case is solid dance music!
We decide to put up two different labels, accompanied with different colours that tell about the direction of the music. Groovecollection Black will showcase more of Jerry's taste of driving progressive and solid house. The Red label will explore different directions of Hip Hop, House, electro and progressive, all mashed up in one. Obviously it will be available throughout the World Wide Web, it's sad to say but Vinyl is dead and we rest our case. The usual suspects will sell our music (3Beat, Beatport, DJ Download, etc) Long live the past but hurray for the future sort of speak and we will gladly contribute in the years to come!
