1870 - Business thrived and Burberry became known as an emporioum focusing on the development of outdoor wear.
1888 - Thomas Burberry invented garbadine and took out a patent.
1891 - Thomas Burberry opened his first London store in Haymarket.
1901 - Burberry was commisioned to design a new service uniform for Brittish officers and the Burberry Equestrian Knight logo was developed and trademarked.
1924 - The Burberry Check was first used as a lining for trenchcoats and soon became synonymous with Burberry.
1967 - The Check was applied to umbrellas, scarves and luggage.
2000 - Burberry Touch, the fragrance was launched.
2004 - Burberry Brit for women was launched.
Burberry is an icon of enduring style and has flagship stores worldwide.
