About Me

I'm a musician, a writer, a teacher, an artist, and a motorcycle enthusist. I'm here to make friends (not to meet lovers) and maybe to hook up with a new band. I love music, especially rock. I have four guitars--two, electric, two acoustic -- and until recently played in a classic rock band around Dover. As a professional writer, I have had bylines in a number of newspapers, magazines, and corporate publications. I'm working on a novel that might someday be pretty good if I get off my butt and finish it. My third love is teaching. I am a college English instructor in Delaware. My longest-running passion has been art. Ever since I could pick up a crayon, I've been making art. Finally, I love bikes. I have a vintage Honda Shadow that I'll probably never get rid of. So if you want to jam, have a writing gig for me, want a friend for riding, need a Web site, or want to share your art, add me as a friend.

My Interests

Music, art, literature, writing, graphic design, motorcycles, cars, my girlfriend, and people in general.

Music:

Ah, heck. Do I really have to decide? In no particular order: Audioslave, Neil Young, Green Day, Elvis Costello, Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Jethro Tull, Yes, Pearl Jam, Marvin Gaye, Aerosmith, Spin Doctors, Bob Marley, Kansas, Nickelback, Heart, Santana, Dave Matthews, Led Zeppelin, U2, Jane's Addiction, Bush, 3 Doors Down, Tom Petty, Lynard Skynard. The list goes on and on ... My all-time favorite to play on my guitar: Pink Floyd.

Movies:

Again, too many to list. Pulp Fiction, Blues Brothers, Animal House, White Man's Burden, King Kong (original version), Crossroads (the one with Ralph Maccio, not Brittany Spears), Citizen Kane, Nosferatu (original version), Mars Attacks (don't ask me why), This is Spinal Tap, Star Wars (all of them), The Song Remains The Same (anyone remember the State Theater screenings?), The Wall (the only movie I arrived straight to and left high from, and I didn't even do any drugs), 28 Days Later, About a Boy, Monte Python's The Meaning of Life, The Life of Brian (Always Look on the Bright Side of Life), and The Quest for the Holy Grail, Crazy People, Being There, Being John Malkovich, One Crazy Summer, Better Off Dead, High Fidelity ... and many more. Oh, and The Breakfast Club.

Television:

Anything on Comedy Central, CNN, Adult Swim, Sci-Fi, or the History Channel. Most of the rest is crap, except "Monster Garage" and "American Choppper." "Stained Glass Window No. 2" Digital photo, Photoshop enhanced, C. 2006, Larry Boehm

Books:

Mostly American fiction: anything by Steinbeck, Vonnegut, or Twain. I'm also hot on Anne Rice, Michael Cunningham, Scott Turow, and especially John Irving. I read a lot of books and try to catch up on the 20th Century classics--Lord of the Flies, Catcher in the Rye, Elmer Gantry (Sinclair Lewis kicks ass, by the way), and anything else that my high-school teachers forgot to assign. I have more than 300 books in my collection, including what I think is a first-edition of Elmer Gantry (big bucks), an autographed Vonnegut, and a few Twains published in the late 1800's. I just love books.
