About Me

So, I own Valor Fighting & Management, Ulimate Pro Wrestling (UPW!) and OC Dojo. But before I get to plugging my Companies, I guess these profiles are about what has made us who we are today......not too many early memories.mom died suddenly and shockingly when i was 13.brother and i left to pretty much raise oursleves, while dad --well-intentioned and very good guy-- went on the road to pay the billsloneliness and summertime teenage pool craziness ;) followdecided to make some money of my own, going into the concert ticket biz did well......and suddenly diagnosed with "terminal" testicular and lung cancer. spent the better part of the next 3 years in the hospital, undergoing 4 major surgeries and massive amounts of hardcore chemotherapy."terminal" diagnosis aside, FINALLY last day out of the hospital on my 19th birthday!stabbed, almost to death, on the streets of LA, with the stitches from my final lung operation still in my chesttried university for a couple of months, and dropped out to become a concert promoter/niteclub owner/security guard company owner/performing act talent agency owner/modeling agency owner, with my own limosine, all by my 21st bday.went bananas and screwed it all up. by 25. but learned nearly a life's worth of lessons during this incredible timeSO MUCH more --almost, several "lifetimes" more-- since then (which I will write about from time-to-time in my "Tall Tales" blog ramblings)fast forward these many years, to a life with no regrets, and full of hope. a life started anew each and every day, with each new day being the BEST DAY.After all these years, a realization that what's most important are friends, family, health, and giving something back to each person in each encounter, which builds to giving something POSITIVE to the world at large...In many ways, I suppose what you do defines who you are. My current industries of choice (VALOR FIGHTING! ULTIMATE PRO WRESTLING! OC DOJO! ULTIMATE CASTING!) are intense, frenetic, challenging and driven, and similarly are chock full of intense, frenetic, challenging and driven people.
My life's goal --(at this point at least, since by their nature goals ultimately seem to be evolving) -- is to continue to build Valor, UPW and OC Dojo into incredibly successful entities...
...while...
...constantly evolving as a solid, generous, patient, inspirational and mellow human being.
WHAT I DO and WHO I AM and expect to be may seem mutually exclusive, but I'm out to prove it's possible...
So, since I'm not defined by what I do...(shameless plug time)....check out:

Music:

PLAYLISTSand SONGS that define an era: STANDARDS like Andy Wliiams' "Moon River", Etta James "At Last", George Bassman's (yep, my uncle)/Tommy Dorsey's "I'm Getting Sentimental over You" -- the stuff that makes you feel like every minute of every day must have been like hanging out at AJ's Steakhouse at Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel or at the bar at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo; anything HIP HOP that's current and hard that actally has a beat, "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor, Linkin Park/Jay Z's "Numb," and lots of stuff by AFI, Young Jeezy and Akon; the ridiculously sappy "ONE HIT WONDERS" of the 70's ("Kung Fu Fighting" "Precious and Few" or "Chevy Van" anyone?), and the same for all the "NEW WAVE" one hit (or two hit)wonders: The Romantics, Tommy Tutone, Modern English, ABC, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Men Without Hats and the rest. And of course, HAIR METAL! Whitesnake, Poison, Cinderella, White Lion and the rest of the big hairs that were so darned horrible but so fun, you couldn't help but love it. And while I probably wouldn't have bought the LPs (or EPs for that matter) but did because I was there and saw ever damn on eof 'em live, the real PUNK ROCKERS, The Dead Kennedy's, Fear, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, GBH, Public Image, Ltd.Favorite bands and artists: Bob Marley The four greatest live acts of all time (IMO anyways): The Ramones, The Rolling Stones, Queen and MeatloafMy other favorites to listen to and to see live: Beres Hammond, Kate Bush, Ooklah The Moc, BB King, Aersmith, Howlin' Wolf, Boomtown Rats, Solomon Burke, Go-Gos, Steel Pulse, The Clash, Johnny Mathis, The Sweet, The Cure, Third Eye Blind, David Bowie, Tom Jones, Desmond Dekker, Toots and The Maytals, The Who, Counting Crows, Dixie Chicks, U2, Ella Fitzgerald, The Police, Gregory Isaacs, Prince, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, Etta James, Johnny Clegg, Sibonghile Khumalo, Hugh Masekela, Joss Stone, Kid Rock, Israel Kamakawiwo'ola (Big Iz), Sarah Brightman, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Patsy Cline, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Louis Armstrong, Madonna, Mazzy Starr, REM
