He graduated and returned to Japan in August 1999, debuted in Japan as a professional who was a reverse-imported fighter. After going through the Pan Class, Rings Fight, he fought in the K-1 WORLD MAX in February 2002 and on the same year his dream came true joining the UFC fight. In the K-1 WORLD MAX he KOed the T"aekwondo medallist Kim Jingwu and On New Year's Eve 2003, He won amazingly against ButterBean who was 110kg heavier in the K-1 Dynamite New Years Eve!! On May 2004, in "ROMANEX", he gave a perfect KO against Royler Gracie, and on October of the same year’s K-1 WORLD MAX he won a TKO against the King of boxing Micheal Rama in his first main event. And he is also the only Japanese fighter to win 2 TAP OUT awards in the UFC. Genki Sudo is not only successful in the Fighting world but he also starred in the movie "Kyoki no Sakura" in October 2002. Also, he played a boxer who died in an unfortunate accident in his first TV Drama appearance in "Sky High2. Episode 6".
