Detournemont Productions evolved in 2000 when I started attending Goucher College. Due to being able to use space for free through a student organization I started, I decided to get involved with creating shows to support independent bands and performers. Over the years, I have booked everything from house shows to large club shows to large hall shows to shows in cafes. Emphasis has been put on creating shows with bands of different genres to incorporate the beauty of diversity within the independent music scene, establish appreciation for various musical styles, and expose new music to virgin ears. Recently, my attention has been focused on creating a multimedia impact at shows by incorporating film showings with performances. However, I've had to slow down due to finishing my last semester of college due to the workload.
I have always prefered to not do guarantees for bands/performers. I have always done my best to promote shows within my busy schedule as a student.
Detournemont Media evolved in 2006 when I wanted to self-release a split tape with my label partner at the time, Jason Seechuk. Detournemont Media's purpose is to promote progressive and experimental music through personalized packaging while establishing connections abroad. The label plans to focus its bigger releases by promoting overseas artists that deserve more recognition in the United States. The label strives to work on a friendly relationship with the artists it supports. These releases are solely available at shows that I perform at or through the other artists involved. However, I plan to have these releases available through my own mailorder soon using paypal. CD and CDr releases will soon be available through interpunk.com as well. Detournemont Media IS NOT a business. I don't care about profit. I care about promoting the music and art that's being released. Therefore, most releases are available at very reasonable costs.
Our releases to date have been:
dt-01: Nuss/Sere c30 (100 copies in standard cassette cases, no longer available)

currently available at Record and Tape Exchange / RTX Records (9448 Main St. Fairfax, VA) or through paypal/trade:
dt-04: $5: Detournemont presents: Music for Treacherous Times Revised edition CDr (limited to 200, available in the uniquely packaged, experimental section in the back of RTX Records; all proceeds go to Breast Cancer research)
Unfortunately, a couple of production errors occurred that went unnoticed until the CDr went into distribution. I admit that this is completely my fault, and I've chalked it up as a learning experience. One track was repeated and somehow a track that wasn't even supposed to be on the compilation ended up on there underneath another name.
This compilation was the result of a desire to create a compilation of extreme music that featured the works of noise and ambient artists between the tracks of sludge, punk, metal, rock, and grind bands to give the compilation a unique feel. Most of the CD features bands and artists from the DC/VA area, but out of town favorites klike King Shit (Nashville), Ox (member of Sons of Otis, Canada), the Black Spoon Brigade (New Jersey), and Failure to Comply (Tennessee) were included on the compilation as well. The disc was mastered by Ben of Aeternus Animus. The CDr comes in a poly sleeve with inserts.
Note: If you have one of the unrevised editions (the CDr face is not a paper label/tracks 17 & 18 repeat) and would like one of the revised ones, I will happily mail one to you. Just e-mail me @

dt-05: $3: Bobby Vomit / ++ (aka shin nihon shinto) tape (100 copies in standard cassette cases with color inserts; available on side wall in RTX Records)
The story of the Jandek record that has been all over the place, pissed on, and manipulated finds its documentation in Nate's manipulation of the record as Bobby Vomit. His side starts off with him pissing on the record and then it being manipulated with turntablism guru, Nate, dominating the wax for a harsh and absurd noise track entitled "Pissing on Jandek." Shin Nihon Shinto (previously known as "++") is a mysterious, Japanese noisician, who provides two tracks of raw Japanese noise named in letter and number sequences. One track sounds like the soundtrack for an industrial armageddon while the other track provides an aura of psychedelic ambience that transcends space and time. This release is highly recommended for fans of turntablism and Japanese noise.
dt-08: $3: The Xanax Diaries: The Split Channel Debauchery of Nuss and Acheronian c30 (available on the side wall in RTX Records)
Two of Piasa's most notorious noise scoundrels got their grubby hands on a decent amount of Xanax and alcohol and threw down 2 split channel harsh drone tracks.... "The Pursuit of Happiness" by Nuss and "Miss Everything / Social Rape" by Acheronian. The cassette is presented in cases w/ cardstock insert. Xanax is not included. Sorry... hit up your local spot.
dt-10: $3: Legless CDr - "Conqueror Worm" (limited to 50 copies in slim jewel cases)
Danny Propert (formerly of the New Flesh) provides an epic, harsh noise track of guitar noise, feedback manipulation, junk sounds, and samples. This track is the soundtrack to the apocalypse. The end is near.
