BIOGRAPHY:
ADDICTION was born in Bilbao at the end of the year 2000, when the first members of the band met each other and decided to shape their own personal artistic expression. IGOR SÃNCHEZ ALEXANDRE ( Ex Mesmerized ) on Drums. PABLO GÓMEZ LARA ( Ex Wers ) on Guitar. ROMINA PÉREZ MARTÃNEZ on Bass.
Still working with blurred concepts, time not only brought them closer together but also helped to personalise the musical expression which each of them had always searched for separately, and the result was ADDICTION.
The second chapter was the signing of IGOR CARDO ALONSO on drums in the year 2001. IGOR SÃNCHEZ, drummer at the beginning, went on to lead vocals from then on. Within two months, the band made their first recording "Hand In Hand", as a self-production. This demo was produced on an eight track digital Fostex recorder (ROMINA was in charge of arranging some of the songs with keyboards). There were barely the means to assure an appropriate quality of work when the first gigs pushed the band onto the stage, with the temporary collaboration of OSCAR BERNAL on keyboards, who was then replaced by the current band keyboardist: NOEMÃ ALONSO FRECHILLA in 2002.
A year after IGOR (the drumer) leaves the band tired of gigs and the musician lifestyle. The band decides to substitute his place with a drum machine as a fast solution to avoid a time lapse and enable the group to keep on playing, which has since become part of the band. In 2005 spring ROMINA goes to Italy for a few months to work, this time it is not a machine to take the place of bassist, it is SERGIO ALDAY who takes her place to keep the band on the road. When she returns, the band decides to mantain SERGIO in the line up, this time as guitar player (the instrument he has always played). Once all the roles had been assigned to each of ADDICTION’s members, the group took on a new approach. On the one hand progression in the visual area (slide projection) for live performances and on the other hand, musically. Mid-tempo songs, soulful melodies with brief pop touches, embraced by a dense and cold atmosphere, in which are found passages inspired by what ADDICTION think of social alienation, moral judgement, isolation, unattainable dreams..., all in all, a group outside of the usual music scene.
