this is gettin silly now, I'm just frickin rambling.... The upshot -- Does it have guts? Does it have balls? Does it have soul? Is it original? Does it make the masses sick when confronted with it? Then it's probably right up my alley.... But bear in mind nearly ALL these cats have put out something shitty at one time or another; I'm not sayin any of them are perfect -- also, there are about a thousand others I have not mentioned coz it's 4:30 am & this is ridiculous -- come see/hear my collection if ya wanna know what cranks me up! I have more records than I have body hairs!
(* indicates bands with whom mine have played over the years.)

Haven't had one for over 2 years now, don't miss anything but the Simpsons. and Family Guy. and Conan O' Brien. I did get addicted to "House" and a couple of other shows right before my TV died, though. I wish they'd bring back "Greg the Bunny". If Seth Skyfire goes to WWE Smackdown, I WILL GET A NEW TV. I saw some "Wonder Showzen" recently and I was laughing so hard I couldn't hit the bong! I should add here that I really love cartoons -- especially Looney Tunes. Sailor Mercury is hot coz she's really smart & her hair is blue. I also liked a lot of TV back when it was written well -- Barney Miller, Taxi, Hill Street Blues, SNL up thru the end of the Piscopo/Murphy era (early 80s -- it should've died quietly over 20 years ago...), FRIDAYS (Melanie Chartoff, where are you?!?!?), SCTV, blah blah etc. It's TV -- YOU watch it.
once again, where to start? I've read hundreds since my TV died in February of 2005.... Geek Love by Katherine Dunn is damn near the best book of the 20th century, maybe longer! Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time is right up there with it. Albert Camus. Fyodor Dostoevsky. De Sade. Samuel Beckett. T S Eliot. Eugene Ionesco. Kurt Vonnegut. Harlan Ellison. Robert Bloch. Richard Matheson. H P Lovecraft. Michael Moorcock. Mick Farren. Bentley Little. Ray Bradbury. Christopher Moore. Hunter S Thompson. William S Burroughs. Phillip K Dick. The Illuminatus! trilogy. Terry Southern. William Kotzwinkle. Thomas Berger. Harry Crews. Jim Thompson. Charles Willeford. Cornell Woolrich. Greg Bear. Jeff Noon. Bill Pronzini. that guy from Texas , I'll think of his name in a minute.... Joe R Lansdale.
There are three rules one should live by, if one intends
to make it successfully through life: Don't carry a sofa
upstairs by yourself. Don't get involved with a Scorpio
unless you mean it. And don't argue with crazy people.

mostly fiction, but I like serial killer books (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) and bios of freaks and -- shit, I dunno....
Harriet the Spy.
Kenneth Fearing is my favorite poet. no-one has ever heard of him. figures....
Stephen King writes some of the scariest short stories EVER, but sometimes finds it hard to end a novel without resorting to the Deus ex Machina.
Charles Dickens was a serial hack.
Edgar Allan Poe is the king of all word-forms.
My Mom: It was just the 2 of us most of the time, and I do believe she raised me right -- any failings I have are due to my own lack of belief in myself.
Neil Young. He's still alive, he's still rockin harder than dudes 40 years younger than he is, and he still doesn't give a little red rat's ass what you think of him. Last year he had a fuckin ANEURYSM and didn't go to the hospital for THREE DAYS coz he was recording and wanted to make sure that came out OK before he worried about his physical self, because MUSIC IS HIS LIFE.
I'll letcha know if I think of anybody else....
GIMME A REASON.
