DJ THUMBPRINT
In addition to representing Massive Selector's San Diego crew, DJ Thumbprint is involved with Soul Province and Kids of Soul. A self-proclaimed b-boy at heart, Thumbprint assimilated to hip-hop culture by learning about each respective element, eventually focusing his love of beats and rhythm on the turntables. DJing since the mid-90s, he is an eclectic music connoisseur who is most inspired by controlling the crowd and spinning funky breaks to satisfy the b-boys and the dancefloor. Back in the day, like most DJs in their early stages, Thumbprint paid his dues as a mobile DJ, spinning at house parties and weddings. He also put in time spinning at Earthbound Radio on a now-defunct show called Monday Night Movement (which moved to Tuesday nights and is now called Truskool Tuesdays).
Fast forward to more recent times: Thumbprint linked up with DJ Frantik and helped start Downbeat, a monthly party well-known in the San Diego scene. Because of his love of hip-hop music and urban culture, Thumbprint has grown from being "just a DJ" to a well-rounded innovator behind the scenes, who still considers himself a student of hip-hop.
He can be found spinning at The Downbeat events, The Bus Stop and Chief Rocka (every Second and third Thursday). Thumbprint's current mix, Peñasquitos Nights, is featured on Groundliftmag.com , and he has forthcoming mix-CDs and remixes in the works.
