Today Michael Delcioppo is a guitarist and drummer living in New York City who performs and manages event entertainment properties. Michael works with venues for which he provides top quality entertainment in the tri-state area. While he considers guitar his primary instrument, those who know him argue that no one can touch him on his first instrument: drums. Michael's abilities as a drummer have left crowds speechless since the early 1970's. His ability to infuse percussion with rhythm and melody is paralled only by Joe Morello. It was inevitable that Michael took up guitar and vocals only to excel with the same ease as on drums.

Raised in NYC, Michael was exposed to some of the of the world's finest music legends in a household headed up by his father who was a noted jazz drummer. Jazz, Swing and Big Band greats of a bygone era breezed in and out of the family home while Michael soaked it all in. He was playing drums before he was old enough to talk.

In the early 70's Michael formed his first of many bands in NYC with Jeff Adams on guitar and keyboards, John Haddad on bass and Michael on drums and vocals. The band quickly earned a reputation for excellence and was booked solid, months in advance, all over the city for private parties, dances and other social functions.

Simultaneously, Michael's band, THE SOUND OF CENTRAL PARK, attracted the attention of CBS News and local papers. Performing Saturdays and Sundays under a majestic oak tree overlooking the southwest side of the Conservatory Pond, THE SOUND OF CENTRAL PARK acquired an unusual prominence. They were featured in television news reports, offered jobs playing at private parties and even approached by a professional music producer. The band found its way into television ads, made guest appearances on talk shows, and even made it into the background of a nationally distributed film.
THE SOUND OF CENTRAL PARK was featured in 1970 for sequences shot in the film "Who is Harry Kellerman?" Shots of Dustin Hoffman walking through the park included the band playing in the background. Out of these performances grew offers for other work. In addition, they provided music at fashion shows and local store openings, college concerts. In July, 1979, they appeared on the Merv Griffin show. Between shots in the limelight, they continued to return to Central Park, where they promoted themselves and collected steady income.
