Grooves Xtra Rare was formed by U.K. composer/visual artist Phil Webb in 2007 and also features former Groovecatcher composer/producer Simon Cooper.
Following their haunting remix of the classic Billie Holiday track "Long Gone Blues" for Sony Legacy, GXR’s debut album “SKYLINES” was released on March 3rd 2008 via Christophe Goze's new Anything Goze Group collective and is AVAILABLE NOW right here and from GXR's Online Shop .
Pushing back the boundaries of chill-out, “SKYLINES” encompasses lush downtempo, electronica, deep house, mellow drum 'n' bass and trip hop within warm, evocative Balearic soundscapes…drawing on all the experience and inspiration that has seen Phil and Simon’s music appear on over 150 compilations and in the Top 10 iTunes Electronic charts worldwide.
“SKYLINES” album highlights include the luscious chill-out of “Groove Diving” and the vinylistic exquisite hip-hop of "Ultramarina". The elegantly sensual vocals of Manuela Van Geenhoven return on the Latin Lounge of "Time And Tide" and "Smoke And Mirrors", an exotic journey in mellow drum ‘n’ bass through fleeting cities at night.
Also featured on “SKYLINES” are inspired collaborations with award winning Singapore producer Paul T and LA film composer/audio wizardress Kathie Talbot. Finishing the album is the transforming deep house of "Dazed", penned by Chris Brann (Ananda Project/Wamdue Project) and featuring the soulful, silky vocals of Solu Music’s Kai Martin.
The digital release of “SKYLINES” includes 2 exclusive digital only bonus tracks… a brand new song with Billboard charting artists Madison Park (featuring a superb vocal from DeAnna Cool) and a remix with DC’s neo-lounge master TOAO.
