About Me

Greetings to all!!! Welcome to my myspace!

God is very important to me! He is my source of strength and provides me peace beyond all measure through the trials of life. The storms of life weigh heavy at times, but God is ALWAYS faithful! I am by no means perfect, just forgiven. He has done so much for me so I strive to live each day giving Him praise and showing His love to others.
Glitter Graphics & CommentsMy world revolves around a 7 year old bundle of rambunctious energy. He is my pride and joy! He brings joy and sunshine to my days! As a single mom, I often wonder if we will survive until his teenage years. He is already giving me gray hair and he is only 7! :) As we begin a new year of school, we also embark upon new endeavors. This year I will be a soccer mom and a Cub Scout parent.I have a condition called Fibromyalgia. Following is an article I wrote concerning my condition.Pain the Fibromyalgia Way Think back to the last time you had a very bad case of the flu. You were extremely exhausted and your body ached so badly in places you did not even know could hurt. You did not want to get out of bed or move off the couch let alone be responsible for anyone else. You wanted merely to curl into a ball and sleep until eternity while the world went on around you but did not interrupt. Now, imagine experincing this type of pain and fatigue on a frequent basis.Welcome to the world of fibromyalgia. You never know when it is going to inflict itself upon you nor do you know how long this flare-up will last. Fibromyalgia is often referred to as an autoimmune disease and is often classed with arthritic conditions. The cause is unknown. How is it treated? The physicians typically utilize medication to treat the various symptoms of fibromyalgia: severe muscle pain, fatigue, migraines, irritable bowel, dizziness, etc. Other techniques that can be helpful include massage therapy, aromatherapy, relaxation techniques, etc. Those suffering from fibromyalgia need strong support from family and friends in order to survive the difficult days. Unfortunately, some people do not understand fibromyalgia and will often think the person is faking or exaggerating the pain. The pain is real and can be excruciating! Again, think back to the last time you had a bad case of the flu. Did you want to do much of anything? How did you feel? That is exactly how an individual with fibromyalgia will feel on a difficult day.How do I survive difficult days co-existing with the duties of being a single mom to a rambunctious 7 yr old boy while suffering from fibromyalgia? My faith is what pulls me through. Knowing that God is with me always and feels the pain I am enduring. Knowing that He loves me above all measure and will NEVER forsake me. Knowing that He takes even the worst things that happen in our lives and uses them to help us 1) to help us become more Christlike 2) to help us help others who are going through similar circumstances and 3) to bring Glory and Homor to His name!I am very close to my family. I know most of my distant cousins on my mom's side of the family very well. As an only child for years, I was delighted when God gave me the gift of an older brother on my birthday! I am very close to my aunt in Tennessee and her family. I miss them so!My friends, both those whom I have held dear for 22 yrs and those I am just meeting now, play an important role in my life. There is NOTHING I would not do for a friend. It is a role I take seriously!Called by God to be a social worker. Working to change the world one heart, one person at a time!

I grew up the daughter of a retired state trooper turned pastor. As a PK (preacher's kid), I have held a myriad of responsibilities within the church. Having supportive, encouraging, christian fellowship is extremely important which is why I also attended the Cumberland Valley Tres Dias weekend and Walk to Emmaus events within my church. I am currently attending a United Methodist Church where my dad is the associate pastor. I grew up in the Penn Jersey district of the Wesleyan church, which is where my father started his ministry. And, I have been a member of the Free Methodist and Evangelical Christian churches.

I'd like to meet:

I love meeting people, otherwise I would not have become a social worker (trust me the pay is lousy). So, feel free to say Hi or ask me any questions you may have! I especially enjoy talking to other fellow believers in Christ.

Movies:

I have not had time to watch any good movies lately! When I do get a chance, they are usually Disney movies with my son. I love chick flicks, especially romantic comedy like 27 dresses (you know the kind that can make you laugh and cry). And, I can handle a good action flick as long as it has a good story line.My favorite actress is Audrey Hepburn. Her humanitarian efforts speak volumes to her kind, gentle spirit. And, I love that little pixie named Tinker Bell. As Disney says just faith, trust, and pixie dust. I don't know about pixie dust but life requires a lot of faith and trust!

Television:

My latest addiction is Bones. The "squint" in me loves the scientific info. The "real person" in me loves the relationship between Booth and Bones. I must also thank Shelly and Doug for introducing me to Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice. Having dissected a human cadaever in college helped prepare me for all of the medical scenes. I also enjoy Without a Trace, Criminal Minds, NCIS, CSI, CSI Miami, Women's Murder Club, and Private Practice.

Books:

Anything by Dee Henderson --- this woman knows how to make her characters come to life! Her books are action packed and filled with romance!I fell in love with every member of the O'Malley Family in Dee Henderson's O'Malley Series.Susan May Warren, Terri Blackstock, Tracey Peterson, Marta Perry, Lois Richer, Wanda Dyson, Patricia Rushford, Ginny Aiken, and numerous others including authors with Steeple Hill and Love Inspired Suspense. Wholesome contemporary christian romance and romantic suspense are my enjoyed venues of reading.Hopefully one day (if it is in God's will), I will have reached my dream of seeing one of my own works of fiction in print.

Heroes:

Jesus. For giving up His life so that I could have eternal life!My son is my hero. When he was 3 yrs old, he suffered 2nd degree burns on his back and legs. I have never met a braver person than him! I love you Roo!!! I am thankful for my training as an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor because it was that training that helped save my son's life.

My mother and grandmother, both of whom have been registered nurses for years and all the other nurses I have worked with over the years. Thanks for your dedication. My father, a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper, and all of the men and women who put on a uniform, badge and gun daily in an effort to serve and protect. Thank you. And to their families who willingly let them help every day despite the danger. My grandfather, who served in World War II, and to all of our men and women in uniform who keep our nation safe and free! God Bless!!When I was a teenager, I became a junior volunteer fire fighter with the local fire company (station 11 Turbotville which is now part of Warrior Run). I met many wonderfully dedicated individuals who were willing to place their lives on the line to help others and I learned many valuable lessons. Firefighters, Paramedics, and EMTs are all heroes to me.My teachers and mentors through the years many of whom taught me invaluable life lessons along the way. Thank you!
