V Tech... Kashe will definitely keep that candle burning for ya'll
In a genre with much publicized bravado, extravagance, and bragging, what does an artist have to say or do to stand out as the epitome of self confidence?
"Kings and Queens come and go... Legends last forever. Witness the Legendary J. Kashe.", That's what.
You cannot blame the young emcee, who despite his young years is a 14 year veteran, for the overwhelming belief in his own abilities. This is a man who came from Yonkers, NY with influences from the Big Apple's historic hip hop heritage, such as Jay-Z, Nas and, of course, Biggie. He has collaborated with many artists worldwide, featured on too many releases to mention, and released mixtapes of his own. Yet, there was a point where he didn't realize the impact the music he crafted was having. "I had a performance at a venue in Richmond, I guess there was a crowd of about 2,000. Weeks after the performance, a kid walks up to me and starts reciting one of my verses. That's when I realized how my music touched others." he says, smiling. This one small act, fueled his creativity, and made him strive for more.
One thing you can't help but notice talking to Kashe, is that he is aware of the whole industry and where the real success is, rather than ploughing in looking for quick overnight success. This is a rarity for an artist so young. “I guess it comes from my true love of the music, and because of that, I think my music reaches out to music LOVERS. Sure, a lot of dudes rap, but I don't think I can be placed into one particular market, so I'm already set apart from what is saturating this market. Most out now look to be one hit wonders. I'm in it for the longevityâ€.
Evidently, it was this aim of longevity in a hip hop scene that sees artists come and go in a heartbeat, which drove the artist, now located in Richmond, VA, to get involved behind the scenes as well as behind the mic. “I started Infynite Recordings because the business has always been a part of my life. I decided to share my life with others. Slowly but surely, the expansion has begun, and next for us, is to build a great team around myself and Co-CEO Lou E. Millz. Indies are showing that they can take charge these days. Things are starting to be geared more towards the artist, and not just the CEO's. I want to continue that growth. If you don't hear more about us, then you're not living.†he chuckles. But you know he's deadly serious.
You may think that a man this focused on success as a businessman and a entertainer that other parts of his life may suffer. Not so. 'The most important thing in the world to me is loved ones. It's hard, damn near impossible, to make it in this world without them. It can be friends, associates, or family.
You can label him a family man, emcee, or even executive. No matter what role this young man plays, he is fully aware of who holds the key to his success.
“Nothing keeps me from being the greatest except myself.â€
