Greetings,
In Thlingit and Haida fashion it is customary to introduce who you are, your clan and where your clan hales from:
I am Klinn-T'ode, from the Shungkweidi clan - we are Eagle, Wolf, and Killerwhale, from the house of the Wolf.I've been an author for 6 years:
2002 - Legends in Wood, Stories of the Totems: Greatland Classic Sales
2004 - The Greatland on a Summer's Day (coloring book): Greatland Classic Sales2006 - The Encyclopedia of Anthropology: Sage Publications (entries: Thingit, Haida, Feasts and Festivals, Potlatch, Aleut)2007 - Transformation Masks: Hancock Publishing House2008 - The Encyclopedia of Race Ethnicity, Ethnicity and Society: Sage Publications (Tlingit, Aleut, Indigenous Canada, Alaska Native Legislation)Up and Coming:
2009 - The Encyclopedia of Time: Sage Publications (Totems, Myths of Creation, Tribal Calendars, Chaco Canyon, Pueblo)
2009 - 21st Century Anthropology: Sage Publications (Inuit)In the European culture you take your father's name, in the Thlingit and Haida you are who your mother is and so take your mother's clan. With this in mind my studies focused on the Thlingit culture, only to be reminded by my Haida Grandmother that I also have Haida in me and not to forget my Haida heritage. And so my studies included the Haidas as well. As this journey continued it was apparent that all of the NW tribes from SE Alaska to Washington were interconnected. In my research for the encyclopedia entries I became very interested in the clashing of European and Native cultures. My Grandfather's family comes from England, and so this generated the interest to research that period of England as well. This is where Jane Austen comes into view, what a delight it has been to include her in my research!
