Hi and welcome to the Paul Rogers myspace website. I have been playing music and in bands for a good number of years, in fact I reckon I was eight when I first started! - my dad presented me with a nylon strung guitar, and at that stage I didn’t know which way up I was supposed to hold the guitar!
My first ’proper’ band was Thesisus - and featured me on guitar and vocals, my mate mike o’tool on bass ( who later went onto play in the Commandments), and George Russel on drums, who went onto play in the popular band Goats Don’t Shave. The outfit did a combination of original and cover material. prior to George Joining the Goats... We formed a band called 'Rough Justice' featuring a all an out rock format in the syle of The Heavy Metal Kids.After Thesisus and Rough Justice I went onto join an outfit called ‘Lady’ this was band playing original rock material and played loads of gigs including Warwick Uni. Eventually the band was renamed ‘Balz’. One of the memorable highlights of the band was taking part in the Melody Maker Rock/Folk contest.I went onto form my own outfit namely ‘The Dark’ - this featured Me on Vox & Guitar, Nigel on Bass and Martin on Drums. Once again this band featured original material. The Dark did a multitude of gigs based around the Midlands.Afer The Dark, I began writing songs with an old mate called Matt. Matt featured in The Love Hysterics. The material we wrote featured influneces from The Beatles, The Stranglers & Blondie to name but a few.Matt moved out of the scene and I went onto work with Martin - who enventually moved over to LA. As a British Muzo he did really well for himself.Through the giging circuit I eventually got into working with
Dizzy Lizzy frontman 'H', together we worked on various songs and it ended up with me recording Dizzy Lizzy with what I consider to be their classic lineup!
