About Me

The Tremeloes Forum
  • N.B This My Space Area Is Not Afiliated Directly With The Group

  • This Is Though A Place For Like Minded People Who Appreciate The Music Of The Tremeloes,Then And Now!
This site also will include information as regards, Tremeloes related Music Projects,e.g Class Of 64 which is of course fronted by Mr Len"Chip"Hawkes
The idea for the group initialy came to me after my good "My Space" friend Tammy told me she had been looking for a Tremeloes My space area but could not find one
She joked with me that I should start one as I enjoy talking about the music and I knew a little bit about The Tremeloes. So needles to say I did!
Therefore, Welcome one and all to The Tremeloes fans forum
  • A Brief Tremeloes History When UK chart-toppers Brian Poole And The Tremeloes parted company in 1966 no one really know, how things would turn out. Then the realisation that they could continue came when in the summer of 66, when Len 'Chip' Hawkes joined the group and the fact that they now had another great vocalist within the group who could co lead sing along side Drummer Vocalist Dave Munden.Chip was a very familiar face to the guys in their previous incarnation of Brian Poole And The Tremeloes as he had been a fan. This was very soon became the classic "Hit Making Line Up "line up that recently reunited for their 40th Aniversary Tour
The only sad note was original member Alan Blakley had passed away in 1996.However his spirit goes on in the music that these guys make,
his footprints he made while been in The Tremeloes are still very evident in their live shows.
While reciting the line that Alan used to say when he would intruduce this song at the end of their shows "Good Night,God Bless, we are going to love you and leave you with this one"
They then launch into a haunting renidtion of Silence Is GoldenTremeloes Line Up 1966 Now that The Tremeloes had become a band in their own right the line up consisted band members at this time consisted of: Alan Blakley A founder member of The Tremeloes was the groups Co Songwriter, Rhythm Guitarist, Keyboards, and Backing Vocalist.
I asked Chip Hawkes a short while ago,how the song writing partnership between Blakley/Hawkes worked. Chip said that wrote the songs mainly and described Alan as his mentor in the partnership.
Chip Hawkes Role In The Tremeloes was Co Songwriter Bass Guitarist/ Keyboards/Co Lead Vocalist.
Chip very much enjoyed The Tremeloes recent original members reunion and commented it felt just like the old days except for the fact that Alan was sadly now longer around to join them.
Ricky Westwood Ricks, original role In The Tremeloes Lead Guitarist/Backing Vocalist.Rick sang a major part on the original single Silence Is Golden. However during the stage act these days he plays lead guitar and leaves the vocals to the other guys in the band
He is a classic guitarist whos name for me sits alongside all the greats.
Dave Munden Role In The Tremeloes is Drummer and Co Lead Vocalist.Chip Hawkes said of Dave Munden that it was his veiw that he is finest ever Drummer Vocalist
It was Dave who informed me of the news that Alan Blakley had died.
