I Live In a Spaceship

About Me

My name is Steve Cook, this Myspace is a kind of online scrapbook, featuring (nearly) everything I've ever done with a guitar around my neck, it doesn't feature any one particular band instead it will have a bit of everything as far back as 1973 up to the present day, so hold on tight it'll be a bumpy ride - here we go. I was born in 1963, had an intrest in music and records at an early age, got my first guitar in 1973 and formed a band with my school friends called Eclipse, not much happned after that untill 1979, I started to take it more seriously, I played in many bands untill the band I had the most success with The Motel Kings, we were together for ten years played the length and breth of the country and made three cds opened for many of the big blues acts, and played many big blues festivels, later I began to feel restricted in the band and not happy with the music scene I was in, A turning point foe me came in 1997 when I was In Austin Texas, my friend Dan Frezak (Bobby Mac Band) took me to a blues jam, expecting to play with the host of the evening on vocals and harp I was shocked when he left me standing there on my own saying "you'll be ok" after the initial panic I had an idea, I knew I could sing Te-Ne-Nee Ne-Nu in the key of 'C' because I sometimes had to do it at sound checks for the Motel Kings, off I went and Bang! the whole club was up and dancing! that night I knew I had to quit the band and concentrate on my own thing, I decided to take some time off the music scene (the wilderness years) and concentrate on song writing and to one day front my own band, as of 2005 I've been doing just that in my band called the HOOK, we preform many of my songs, I will use this site to preview my songs when I record them, for now I've posted some old stuff, a song writen by me and my good friend Louise Ryan in 1992 called You're Supposed To Be Mine, Shiny Purple Crome a guitar instrumental from my old Tascam Porta One, Honey Gun recorded at a rehearsal by none other than the band Honey Gun! and Living In Sin writen and recorded by my self and my good friend (and Impossibles vocalist) David Stone in the mid eighties, and last but not least a rare Motel Kings recording called Motel Boogie (intended for the second MK's album Hot To The Touch) - enjoy! but stay tuned.. the future is bright.
