ROY G and the BIVinators is a project driven by Maz Hermon, a Whangarei born musician now living in Wellington. Inspired by the heart beat and pulse of life,
Maz has been a musician from his conception and continues to grow in his approach and ability, both musically and technically. The Debut EP “For The People†has been a solo project by Maz who has produced, recorded and mixed the album at his studio in Newtown Wellington. The EP was then mastered at Trident Studios by the reputable Mike Gibson, who has ‘cleaned the windows’ to allow the full spectrum to come shining through.During 2008 ROY G and the BIVinators have appeared as a 9 piece band at various festivals and events including the Parihaka International Peace Festival in Taranaki (the most culturally significant festival in Aotearoa New Zealand) and the Newtown Festival in Wellington.Maz is a 24 year old multi instrumentalist focusing on trombone, vocals and guitar. Playing trombone from the age of 11, Maz spent time learning about harmony and arrangement as lead trombonist in the Whangarei Youth Music Concert Band, traveling to Hawaii and Australia to perform in international festivals under the guidance of Jim McMullan. Since then Maz has spent time at the New Zealand School of Music completing the foundation certificate in Jazz and the first year of the Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz Performance. While attending the NZSM Maz was tutored by both Nick Van Dijk and the renowned Roger Fox, sharpening up his skills on the trombone and music theory. Maz is now focusing on his original music and career as a performing and recording artist, which has lead to the release of his debut EP “For The Peopleâ€.“For The People†will appeal to a wide range of audiences and heralds the way for the coming LP aimed for release in 2009.
