Soda Jerk Presents is a new name but is not new to the world of promoting the best punk, hardcore, emo and indie-rock shows in the Boulder/Denver area. The earliest incarnation started in 1997 as Soda Jerk Productions. Our main venue at the time was called Club 156 and was located on the campus of the University of Colorado in Boulder. A small room with a capacity of 157, we had the pleasure of hosting some of today's top bands when they were just starting out (At The Drive-In, Alkaline Trio, Earth Crisis and more) as well as many great local bands. From there, Mike(Owner of Soda Jerk Productions), decided to merge efforts with Jason Cotter who was booking shows at a club called The Raven in Denver. They formed a partnership called Private Party Productions and for 2 years hosted 100's of the best punk shows to come through Denver. In that time, The Raven was twice-voted as the "Best Punk Club" in Denver by the Westword.Tired of dealing with the owner and the unprofessional atmosphere of The Raven the two decided it was time to open their own club. In December of 2000, their new club "The Cat" opened to the delight of many. Unfortunately, due to a change in the Denver liquor laws, the club was forced to close just 3 months after it opened. In 3 short months the club was voted as "The Best New Club" in Denver, again by The Westword. Down, but not beaten, Jason and Mike decided to go their separate ways and Mike started what is now Soda Jerk Presents. Soda Jerk Presents' "Mission" is two-fold and simple. First, give the people their money's worth with the best shows we can produce and at a resonable price. Second, strive to enhance the development and success of the artists we work with and promote in our market. We feel strongly about the bands we decide to promote whether they be national touring acts or local talent. We will always try to work with bands we believe in. We feel that, in the end, this philosophy translates into a positive experience for the people that attend the shows we promote, as well as for the bands that play. Every show we put together and promote needs to be the best it can be.Soda Jerk Presents is an independent "Do It Yourself" promoter with a professional attitude. We feel that we can offer the bands we work with a more personal experience. Because we are fans of the bands we book, we treat them as actual people rather than with the cavalier attitude most clubs seem to have of "another band another day". Soda Jerk Presents firmly believes that we can offer a far better alternative to the bands we deal with than any other clubs or promoters in the Boulder/Denver area. All of the shows we promote are done in the best clubs, theaters or halls in the state. We insist that the clubs we work with have full professional sound systems with trained techs, and provide a safe atmosphere for the fans. This means having trained security and staff that are not over-aggressive and are reasonable in their relations with the people at the shows. We promote every show with the same militant marketing methods: - We advertise in as many weekly entertainment newspapers as possible - Distribute thousands of flyers and handbills at shows, record stores and other "Hip Spots" in the area - Do ticket giveaways on local college radio stations - Weekley e-mailing to our large e-mail list - And provide this fine internet site as a 24/7 resource for all our fans. We take great pride in the work we do and we're passionate about the music and the bands we work with. We look forward to every show we promote and we always hope that everyone that attends one of our shows has a great time!
