“I got my first set of turntables back in 97, and it took a while to realize I wanted to do a little more than just playing songs at a club. I then entered my first DJ competition in 99…at a local DMC, placing 2nd a year after. Since then I’ve acquired about 7 consecutive titles. Story of my life… DMC XXY 2000 Toronto (Champion)/ DMC 2000 (2nd place)/ DMC 2001 (3rd place)/ DMC Montreal 2001(2nd place)/ DMC 2002 (3rd place)/ DMC 2003 (2nd place)/ DMC 2004 (2nd place).... Out of discouragement, I completely stopped that year. I literally put my turntables back in their boxes...ended up playing “Paintball” at a pro level…I guess it was a good way to keep the competitive juices flowing. A movie producer even made a movie about me titled Labo’s Last Spin, which ended me mentally. Coincidentally, the film made it all the way to some huge film festival in Boston. Big!!!2006... Back in full effect! Launched the 1st Annual Toronto DJ Festival, which hosted the first Serato-based DJ Competition “The Showdown” as well as the Toronto DMC’s. Its funny…life somehow finds a way to flank you! Then all is good. I try to do a bit of everything now… from producing ads, to experimenting with new beats, as well as doing guest spots with other musicians, simply surrounding myself with positive people who share the same vision...
