It was a cold autumn night in 1977 when Mississauga gave birth to its newest wax warrior, J TEC. In the summer of 1993, J TEC and high school classmates’ tha Kool Kat, Tantrum, ill Buddah and Dopey formed the deadly DJ clan Turntable Monkz.
After four years of intense training in the various disciplines of violating vinyl, the Turntable Monkz unleashed their cut capabilities on the Toronto DJ battle scene. J TEC’s frenetic fader fondling feats secured various accolades:1999 BrownBeatz Scratch Champion
1999 World Team DMC Finalist (Turntable Monkz)
2000 Kitchener DMC Champion
2000 York University Mixtacular Champion
2002 Import Revolution Toronto champion
2002 Turnament Champion
2006 Toronto DJ Festival Best Scratcher Award.
While accumulating battle scars, the Turntable Monkz’ scratch skills gained further recognition overseas from their first internet radio show “Turntable Meditationâ€, which aired on www.turntablism.com (an Australian based website), followed by the notorious "Needillworks? Show" on www.illnoiz.com.
In addition to several commercials for MuchMusic, this cut combatant has opened for Detroit hip-hop heavyweights Slum Village and Frank n’ Dank, 3 time DMC World Champion DJ Craze and the legendary Roy Ayers.
