I was born in San Mateo, California in 1972.
My involvement in drawing, and art, started as a child when I would spend hours with my brother devising drawing games and creating elaborate imagined worlds. This playtime interest gradually evolved into a passion for art and its ability to transport the viewer into new realities. It was not until I was 20, however, that I realized that a life spent creating new realities, was soon to be my own new reality.
Over time, I have come to understand that the creation of imagined worlds is simply a reinterpretation of the world which surrounds us. With this in mind, I have made it integral to my art that I remain awake to the surrounding world so that I might better reflect the times which we live in today. It is my hope that I can share with you my insights and perhaps even put a smile on your face.
The paintings are usually done with acrylic, and often are painted on found materials. These found materials come from all over. Sometimes they are doors or windows abandoned on the sidewalk. Other times they..re old cigar boxes or metal platters that no one wants anymore sold at the fleamarket. The fact that these found objects have their own private history is something that is very appealing to me, and I use this jetsam to add another level of history and humanity to the final painting.
I attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. I later returned there to teach illustration for one year.
I now live in Berlin, Germany with my wife Tanja.

I should also ammend this little bio here with a very important update. Since last December 2005 I have opened a gallery with the very talented Johan Potma . The gallery is called Zozoville , and it is located in Berlin. Since the grand opening, Johan and I have been very busy putting together exhibitions and painting our asses off.
