Law started to listen to hardcore/jungle back in 1993 where she was influenced by the likes of Randall and Mickey Finn at AWOL in the now infamous Paradise Club in Angel. Inspired and lead by this new music, she continued to follow it and went to nearly every rave and by 1996 had started to mix.Working in Unique Muzik on a Saturday alongside DJ Flight cemented her love and collection of vinyl and slowly things started to turn in her favour. By 1999, Law had completed a Sound Engineering Course at Paddington college and had also been approached by The Voice newspaper to edit and write their drum ’n’ bass column. Entitled Representin’ with DJ Law’ this column gave up and coming DJ’s and MC’s a chance to showcase their talent in print and also kept you up to date with regular tune reviews and the latest club information.In Easter 2001 DJ Ital brought Law onto Kool FM and gave Law that all important break. The first back to back show was MC’d by Skiba and there was no going back from that! More familiar as the Ying and Yang show with MC Fun they sustained the 1-3 spot on sizzlin’ Sunday for three years. In 2001/2 she toured Germany twice, played in Prague, Rome and DJed in Planet Hollywood in Hong Kong alongside 1 Extra’s Ras Kwame, spreading the d’n’ b vibes. Law also covered the West country, playing in Exeter with DJ Storm, and last but not least London, where she played at Jungle Fever, Dreamscape, One Nation, Movement at Bar Rhumba, and held down the weekly residency at Dekefex.Whilst DJing on Kool she worked on various tunes in the studio with DJ Cab-E. Releasing ’Stitch Up’ on Elite Recordings in October 2002. In 2003 she was approached by BBC Radio Five to be on the music panel for Nicky Campbells drive time show, regularly reviewing different types of music.
