Influences: *** MUSIC IS AN OUTBURST OF THE SOUL *** As far as influences, where do I start? I love to read lyrics before I even listen to songs. Here's a partial list of the people I have listened to that really influenced my writing: Stevie Nicks, Melissa Etheridge (fantastic writer - her lyrics always leave me in aw), Lisa Marie Presley (After I listened to her 2nd album, I sat down and wrote 3 new songs, seriously!), Reba, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Bono (from U2- amazing writer), Big & Rich (amazing...absolutely amazing!) Bret Michaels (writer of my favorite song..Every Rose), Miranda Lambert (she may be young, but she is one heck of a songwriter!), Taylor Swift (recently a new favorite), Keith Urban (wow...that says it all), Brad Paisley, Wynonna Judd, Prince, Sarah McLachlan (put it this way, I had goosebumps at her concert), Alison Krauss/Union Station, Tim and Faith, Pat Green (He's an independent writer who refused to conform), Lee Ann Womack, Pat Benatar (I grew up listening to her!), Alanis Morisette, Van Morrison, Dido, Sara Evans. Okay, the list could go on and on and on. Everything I listen to somehow adds to what I write. *******************When I don't feel inspired I will put on a Tori Amos CD and that will usually get my creative juices flowing. Then I put on something like Sugarland and that gets me into the "country" mood and then I put everything together and see if it works. Hopefully someday....somewhere....someone will pick up one of my songs and record one! That is my 1 dream in this lifetime.
Sounds Like: Our songs are of all different genres. So, our sound is all over the place. We are certainly hoping with our flexible writing styles, we will have a lot more doors opened as far as with publishing companies, recording artists, or whatever comes our way! Listen to our songs and tell us how you think they sound. Each one is influenced in its own way. Such as "Going Once Going Twice" has an Avril Lavigne sound, while "Until You Go Home" is more of a Bon Jovi meets country sound. Then we have a great blues tune sung by Shondra with her awesome powerhouse voice. Mr. Right is definitely a big country hit with Murari's voice and sounds like it could be the next 1 country tune....just waiting for either a hot new country artist or one of country music's top ladies to record!** To hear more of our songs...go to our ISOUND profile at http://www.isound.com/babcock_and_star_songs
