ABOUT MICHELE
The one thing I can say about myself with certainty is that I continue to change. With age comes new experiences and challenges that continue to mold us and shape us into what we will ultimately become.I have recently faced a number of challenges in my life that have made me look at the world somewhat differently than I did just a few months ago. And I can say that with adversity we become stronger...
I think I have accomplished most of what I strived to accomplish. I was successful in my career, I purchased my house, I have grown into an emotionally well balanced individual. All those things which seemed to be so important when I was younger seem to pale now in the light of day. It is kind of a "so what" now that I look back on how much energy was expended in accomplishing those things.
So now I think the things I missed along the way are more important to me. My garden, taking time to write and paint, enjoying the summer breeze or the scent of the spring flowers. I do not think the life in the fast lane is what life intended. But as we all know we have to eat and have a place to lay our head. But what we loose sight of in this world is that is all that is really necessary. All those things that we thought were so important to have the cool car and the latest fashions are really just fantasy. The real things in life are not purchased.
It is funny that about ten years ago when I went through my breast cancer I woke up after it had recovered and there was a hint of this new reality, but with time it faded again and I fell back into the old philosophy. Now ten years later without a life changing event, I begin to see the light ahead of me again. But now it is ten years later and there is less time ahead then there would have been had I heeded the realization then. Oh well enough about that for now.
Lets see about Michele...I am single I have remained that way by my own choice. Currently my sister and her two sons are my room mates. I have two dogs that I love very much and with the death of my mother last year I inherited a cat. I really love animals my neighbors laugh at me because I plant vegetables in my garden every year and expect the wild life to consume them. I have bird feeders out year round and I have squirrel feeders too. My house was built on what used to be a forrest so my lot is wooded. There is a lot of displaced wildlife in my neighborhood over the last 15 years as they continued to develop this area. I see turtles, possoms and the occasional raccoon. We have rabbits that run the neighborhood as well (and I am pretty sure they are the ones eating my garden).
I enjoy my solitude most of the time but I have begun to step into the world a bit more than I used to. And my intention is to do more of that as I get stronger again in my conviction. I have been volunteering for friends of feral felines over the last couple of years but I need to extend that to some more important work as well. I have not yet decided what yet.
I heard a sermon the other day on the radio, I listen to Pastor Greg Laurry on a show called The New Beginning. Anyway, I heard that God molds our lives and gives us experiences that will shape us into what he ultimately wants us to be. We have gifts and learned lessons. This comes to fruition between about 45-50 years old. So I have been asking myself if that is why my perspectives are changing. If there is a plan for me and I will see it very soon. If I am not already doing what was intended for me, then now is the time that things will be changing. I look forward to what the Lord has instore for my life...

THE HOUR OF THE WOLF
That time sometime between dusk and dawn when you should be asleep but all those things that haunt you come up and keep you awake. - I am using this as the theme for my journal.
Well it has been months since I have had any time to make an entry in my journal. Finally here I am. To bring everything up to date my dad and his wife arrived in July as anticipated. His wife stayed until the 15th of August and then she went to Singapore to get the house ready for Dad to join her. He is retiring now at 73.He is still visiting and is planning to join her sometime in mid September. He visited with friends & family, got some of his medical visits completed and took care of last minute business. I will be sad to see him go...
My sister finally had her surgery in mid August also. The tumor was the size of a grapefruit but it is finally gone. She has been recovering at home and it was good to have Dad here to help me take care of her. I needed someone at home while I was at work during the day. She is doing a lot better now but at first it was very hard for her. Now she is getting up some and moving around. She is still not healed and they said it will be a couple of months before she is back to normal.
I went on a trip with my job last week for something called team building exercizes. If you recall I just had gone through a kidney surgery in April and perhaps the exercise was not the most intelligent move. I apparently sprained my neck and back severely during the trip. The doctor put me down with muscle relaxers, steriods and pain killers for a week trying to get the swelling and inflamation down. I tell you what that was painful, it was so painful I was sure I had herniated a disc in my back but the MRI said I did not. I did have a bone spur but the violent symptoms I was experiencing were the sprain of the mucles and tendons. Whew! All those years as an insurance adjuster and I never knew how bad it really could be. I read about people getting this injury in car accidents all the time but I never imagined anything like what I just went through. To say you feel sore is an understatement.
Well I am back to work tomorrow but I still feel a burning when I sit up for too long so I hope that I have recovered sufficiently not to reinjur myself. I must admit I felt pretty stupid having to tell them what happened. It would be different if the course had been more strenuous but it was minimal, I was just not in sufficient shape to perform the tasks most likely due to the health problems I have had over the last year. I need to get into some exercise program to rebuild my stamina. But not quite yet, I had better recover sufficiently first...
My nephew Eric just had his 21st birthday this weekend. We did take him out to a dinner at an italian restaurant. It was all we could do to make it through an hour meal before we had to come home and lay down. What a bunch we turned out to be this year. He had a party to go to so it did not interfere with his fun. I can not believe the youngest is now 21. How the time flys...
I had my friend and her daughter staying with us for awhile too. But now she has gotten her room mate and moved into a house so we have more room again. I was functioning with seven people in the house for awhile there and it was a bit crowded since it is a four bedroom house. We made due however, that is what couches are for. I did a lot of cooking which I enjoy but do not usually do because there is no one to eat but me. I was told I am a good cook though I like what I call real food - normal food, not very fancy. It was fun having everyone here for awhile and now I miss all the commotion. But we adjust as the circumstances change.
I did not have much time in the pool this year. Just a little. And now it is fall beginning. I really need to get it cleaned out good as the leaves are beginning to fall into it again this year, but I have not been up to taking care of it. I am going to pay someone to come and do the initial work on it so as not to strain my back while I am recovering. Then hopefully I can keep it up from there. I did enjoy my garden this year. We had a good crop of tomatoes but the little animals ate all the other stuff. The green peppers never came up again this year. We purchased a St. frances statue for the garden and some little rabbits. I thought the rabbits were appropriate since that is who I suspect is eating the garden veggies. I put pic's in of the new garden and the wall we put around it this year. They are in my slideshow...Well I better go looks like company has come over.

WINTER BLONDE
As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door. The trucker lowers the window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and you are losing some of your load." The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.
When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again. She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door. Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street. At the third red light, the same thing happens again. All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker rolls down the window. Again she says "Hi, my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light. When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde. He knocks on her window, and after she lowers it, he says...
"Hi, my name is Kevin, it's winter in Michigan and I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!"

The next time someone asks you a dumb question wouldn't you like to respond like this?.....
Yesterday I was buying a large bag of Purina dog chow for Cleatus the wonder dog at Wal-Mart and was about to check out.A woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think I had, an elephant? So on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again. Although I probably shouldn't, because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story.)
Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's butt and a car hit us both.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard!
WAL-MART won't let me shop there anymore.

Subject: Are Rednecks REALLY DUMB ?
A redneck was stopped by a game warden in Central Mississippi recently with two ice chests full of fish. He was leavin' a cove well-known for its fishing.
The game warden asked the man, 'Do you have a license to catch those fish?'
'Naw, sir', replied the redneck. 'I ain't got none of them there licenses. You must understand, these here are my pet fish.'
'Pet fish?'
'Yeah. Every night, I take these here fish down to the lake and let 'em swim 'round for awhile. Then, when I whistle, they jump right back into these here ice chests and I take 'em home.'
'That's a bunch of hooey! Fish can't do that.'
The redneck looked at the warden for a moment and then said, 'It's the truth Mr. Government Man. I'll show ya. It really works.'
'O. K.', said the warden. 'I've got to see this!'
The redneck poured the fish into the lake and stood and waited.
After several minutes, the warden says, 'Well?'
'Well, what?', says the redneck.
The warden says, 'When are you going to call them back?'
'Call who back?'
'The FISH', replied the warden!
'What fish?', replied the redneck.
Moral of the story: We may not be as smart as some city slickers, but we ain't as dumb as some government employees.
You can say what you want about the South, but you never hear of anyone retiring and moving North.

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DAILY DIARY
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.
Bastards.
Tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.
MMMM , Makes one wonder????
