About Me

Well, the obvious is clear. My name is Chris Keegan . Growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I surrounded myself with music. I wrote my first song at the age of eleven. I've always been captivated by the stories told in music. The instruments guide your mood as the words shape your imagination. After listening to bands like the Beatles, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and the more recent wave of singer/songwriters such as David Gray, Glen Phillips, and the Dave Matthews Band, I realized I wanted to tell my own stories in my own way.
I got my first guitar as a birthday present from both my parents and my grandfather. I formed a band with some friends in seventh grade before I really even knew how to play. I'd say we figured it out along the way. Those were great times. I played with those guys and was the principal songwriter of the band for about 6 years. From around the end of seventh grade on into my first year of college, Bug existed in some form or another. I had so much fun, but eventually felt like something was missing. I wasn't getting my point accross. I had other stories I wanted to tell. When the band split up in the summer of 2000, I stopped playing for a few months. I wasn't sure who I was or what I had to say. Eventually I picked up a guitar again and began to write in a whole new way. I simply began taking time to look at life from different angles and write about what I saw: life, love, pain, joy, healing, new beginnings.
That brings me to the present. I'd like for people to hear what I've done for the last few years. To relate to the stories told. Many of my songs are deeply personal, and some are only a story. I hope that I've disguised each well enough that you can make your own decision. And hopefully, I'll be able to keep playing, writing, and have people relate to what they hear.
