The Beginning (1999-ish) - 28th June 2003:
Sadly, on 28th June 2003 our good friend, spiritual mentor and bass player of
international repute, Martin Berry, died suddenly, aged 57. He is survived by
his wife Bernie and his three children, Ben, Simone and Tom. We all still miss
him very much and are grateful to have known him. RIP
Martin was the bass player of the band from it's first gig, (when it wasn't actually
called the Mark Keen Band), at the end of 1998. He is the bassist and part-time
backing vocalist on the only release to date 'It's
A Shame' .
Influences: All kinds of stuff ... some of it already described on the 'electric circus' page but here ... mainly blues, Sam 'Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, Slim Harpo, Graham Neill and Dave Murrell ... I listen to so much stuff and some of it very old too ... Lonnie Johnson and a lot of the early female blues singers too ...
Sounds Like: Well ... I can really only go on what other people have said ... generally, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream ... that's the electric stuff anyway ...
