About Me

Someone once said that we sound like the heavy parts of Joy Division combined with the softer parts of the Sex Pistols. Others have said we sound like The Undertones, The Pixies, Franz Ferdinand and Kings of Leon. Have a listen and see what you come up with.
Since starting in late 2004, we have shared a stage with such great Aussie bands as The Living End, Little Birdy, Sarah McLeod (ex Superjesus), Dardanelles and The Inches, and international bands Cut Off Your Hands (NZ) and Sabot (Czech Republic). We also played on the Lorne Foreshore during the 2005 "Schoolies" celebrations, and have played legendary venues such as The Tote, Ding Dong Lounge, The Espy and The Greyhound among many others.
Our latest EP is a three-track disc called "City Lights", which you can get at one of our gigs.
With a diverse list of influences, the Havana Allies sound is something you need to hear. They have recently released their new EP "City Lights" but check out their older stuff…to see where they came from and the brilliance that is Havana Allies.

The songs on City Lights are very much derived from a combination of the band's major influences: The Strokes, Kings of Leon and The Ramones style of punky pop rock with a slight disco beat. It's immediately accessible and appealing to a wide audience. I highly recommend checking this young band out live...
- Gus Pollard, Forte Magazine, June 2007
Havana Allies have a punchy 70's punk/pop sound. Music I know and love. Taking me back to my fun years. They are tight, playing their parts well…Havana Allies play some perfect pop… It's fun. The songs speak of the past and yet they sound now.
