About Me

I spend most of my time thinking about glass. Of all the mediums I play with it is my favorite. By day I'm a glass bead maker and by night I'm a glass bead maker. It's most of what I do. More recently I have been occupying alot of space in my brain with macramé. I'm working on a book of macramé projects. So far so good. It's something I've done on and off since teenagerhood. I did a project for DIY Jewelry Making which ended up in their jewelry making book. Then there was the article in Craft Magazine (love them) I wrote showing how to make a macramé beaded curtain. Now the book. Expect cool projects like a guitar strap, a halter top, a scarf, an ipod holder and even some jewelry. That should be out sometime in 2009. Whoo hoo. In the meantime there's glass fusing and metal clay and jewelry and graphic arts and welding and extreme vitrigraph...and I teach bead making and fusing and macramé too. Before embarking on a career of fine crafting and all that comes with that I worked as a Production Manager at an advertising agency as well as a graphic production artist. But once I discovered I could work hot glass that's all I thought about for, how long now? 14 years now. I'm shaping hot glass in a flame, making beads, and every day the experiences grow. I've also been crafting on TV having appeared in 6 Do It Yourself Network (DIY)Jewelry Making episodes. I also did two episodes of DIY's new show, CraftLab. Those will be on as repeats throughout the year. There's always something new coming up...I've got a bunch of goodies up on beadbrains.etsy.com for sale and check ebay for my auctions. My user name there is beadbrains1...go figure. Now go make something!

My Interests

I love glass, making jewelry, macramé, working with metal. Rock'n'Roll would have to be up there too. I don't play necessarily but am surrounded by music and wouldn't have it any other way. Music is art so it counts and plus, I can't resist a musician. I run, hike, swim, do yoga, generally I like to workout. I like being strong and I need to for my crafts. No wussie stuff here!

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking for other artists. All mediums welcome. Glass is my favorite medium so it's always good to find like minded people to talk with or learn with. Also, since I teach I'm looking to help enlighten the masses about creative thinking.
