My privilege choked me for years...

About Me

The United Sons of Toil are a band from Madison WI. The Sons are Bill Borowski (The Arge, Atalanta, Knuckeldrager), Chad Burnett (Houndrunner, Colony of Watts), and Russell Hall (P'elvis, Pound WI). The music is loud, noisy, and occasionally catchy. Think mathrock of the era when Touch and Go, AmRep, and Dischord lorded over the indie-rock landscape.

From The Onion's AV Club:
"For the way it hovers, shudders, and wrangles massive volume with such precision, The United Sons Of Toil’s Hope Is Not A Strategy is the best local album The A.V. Club has heard all year (though Sector Five labelmates Houndrunner, Colony Of Watts, and The Suit also put out memorable records). Guitarist-singer Russell Hall may be ranting about government spying here—it’s hard to tell—but this math-rock dirge’s instrumental dynamic says all it needs to about tumult and desperation."
