There Are No Coincidences

About Me

I was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico; raised on classic rock and latin music. My dad's a Pentecostal pastor and percussionist who taught me to appreciate all music from Jimi Hendrix to Tito Puente; my mom's a poet and missionary who taught me the value of a hug. As a teen I had the opportunity to perform at venues such as the UN Global Youth Forum, Tribeca Arts Center, Earth Day NY, The Roundabout Theatre, and The Learning Channel. I was also blessed with the opportunity to travel to many different countries, an experience which I believe to be an integral part of my songwriting. In 2003, the Indira Ortiz Band was awarded best new artist at the Judah Music Conference, Faith World, Orlando, Florida and in August of 2006 I made the move from NYC to Florida to start recording my first full album with Kirk McKim, an amazingly talented guitarist and producer (Pat Travers Band) based in Orlando. Not long after that I met Stephen Dixon, who is also an amazingly gifted musician and producer, but most importantly my very best friend. He finally figured out why I stuttered every time he tried to talk to me, and asked me to marry him. We got married on the beach in the Outer Banks, NC and are now working at the Roanoke Rapids Theatre site We hope to release our new album "I Will Not Surrender" on April 1, 2008, so please check back with us here or at our official site for the latest.Peace, Love & Big Hugs To All :o)I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
