i was born writing. 1975. all the way live. south side of chicago. as a growing girl, the world outside my three-flat window gave this only child plenty to ponder. while a move to suburbia during adolescence would prove to be a study in social contrasts, my attempts at creative writing felt uninspired. during my twenties, however, a life of academics gave way to the pursuit of real knowledge. this ever-evolving consciousness has been my salvation. i am a wife, mother, teacher/activist, poet, performing artist, publisher, daughter, sister, and friend---do my best to wear each hat well.
