Life is like music, it must be composed by ear, feeling and
instinct,not by rule. Nevertheless one had better know the
rules, for they sometimes guide in doubtful cases, though
not often. There is a charm about the forbidden that makes
it unspeakably desirable, the Fall of Man is inevitable.
Human behavior flows from three main sources: desire,
emotion, and knowledge. But above all get understanding
and wisdom, for with these you can guide your desire,
emotion, and knowledgeFeelings are the fine instruments which shape ability to make
decisions, for we are simple animals cursed and blessed with
intelligence, and the freedom which is its corollary.
They are signals directing us toward goodness, safety,
pleasure, and group survival. I don't know the key to
success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.
