It was fun while it lasted...
THE JOEYS ARE ON INDEFINATE HIATUS!!!
Hello everyone. First off, we would like to thank EVERYONE who has showed us love and support over these last few months since we joined myspace.
We actually started this myspace as a joke. We thought we might get a couple people who liked our music, and a huge number of people who would just make fun of our music. It actually turned out to be quite the oposite. Almost instantly, people starting letting us know how they liked how "different" we were, letting us know they liked us due to the fact, we sound like nothing else out there. You the people, appreciated the fact that we could play a number of different genres, yet still sound like the Joeys. You also liked the humourous side of our band. Yet, when we released our new song in January, Strage Land, it was an initial shock. This was due to it was our first "serious" song. As in, a song that wasnt made as a total joke. It was a song that was made to be a song, not a joke. And again, much to our surprise, you the people loved it. However, our song which has become most affectionately known by all our fans is most definately "I've Got A Band-Aid." With its rediculous concept, nonsensical lyrics and inhumanely catchy chorus, this song became an instant addiction for many who visited our page. And stuck around to listen to more of our songs. This was all a surprise.
I dont want to say the Joeys have been a huge success, because look at us... we are a band that went no where and only have a couple hundred friends. But then I look at our experience since we joined myspace. And the Joeys have been a HUGE success. More so then I could ever dream. With out all of our friends, we would be no where. Now, as I mentioned earlier, we have a couple hundred friends. A couple hundred people who, given the opportunity, would even come check us out live. Where as, if we hadnt started this myspace, we would have zero fans. Well maybe a couple, but our close friends, girlfriends, family, relatives and the such dont count. As I mentioned earlier, I started this myspace expecting mostly comments from hecklers commenting on our musical style. But unexpectedly, you embraced our music. You the fans made this possible for us. And we couldn't thank any of you more. We are eternally greatful.
With this in mind, the Joeys are going on indefinate hiatus. In other words, we have no future plans to ever practice together again as the Joeys. However, dont be upset at us or feel bad for us either. We all have learned a lot about ourselves, our own personal musical tastes, how to deal with bands, and music itself. You see, all the reasons we seemed to be so well liked, such as being different, not sounding like anyone else, not playing one genre, playing funny songs among others, are actually the reason we have decided not to continue as the Joeys. Up until recently, The Joeys have had 4 members. Layton, Josh, Andy and Greg. In January, it became apparent everyone had different ideas of where they wanted the band to go. We soon stopped practicing, due to fact school was getting into full swing. So we decided to take a break for a couple weeks. And then the break became longer... and longer... and longer... Until now, when I decided The Joeys have no future plans to play/record under the name "The Joeys." Now, may I emphasize what this means. All of us in the Joeys, are still very close friends. We just all realized our musical tatses were too different. Now the seperate members of the Joeys have moved onto other projects. Layton now has Princess Says. Dont be surprised if you see Andy or I performing with Layton on stage as well. Also, I am currently working with a new band called "Hemispheres." I also will, hopefully, be starting an alternative/ska band with my girlfriend this summer. So watch out for that. As for Andy, as mentioned, look for him playing shows with Layton's Princess Says, but also watch out for his rap music. You see everyone, this is not the end. Just the beginning. Who knows though... perhaps in the future. The Joeys will get together and record another song or two just for kicks. But in the upcoming future, dont expect anything new from the Joeys.
Again, I would personally like to thank every single person who ever listened to one of our songs. Whether you liked it or not, you tried to listen to us. And a HUGE thank you too all of our fans. Who liked our music, and took the time to add and talk to us as friend. I found communicating with our fans was one of the best way to create long time fans. And it worked. So again, thank you everyone. I cannot say this enough. We will update this site with any future projects of any band members as well, so everyone will know what is going on. I will also say this, The Joeys are on "indefinate hiatus" we have NOT broken up. However, I get the feeling this is long enough and I am just repeating myself now. In closing, my experience with The Joeys has been a fun adventure. With happy times, hard times, fun time and frusterating times. It has actually been a struggle of almost 4 years now to get to this point. And to see it end here, makes me sad. But remember, this is not an end, but a beginning. Thank you. It was fun while it lasted. Here's to the future! - Josh
