I am the youngest child and daughter of the late bluegrass legend, Carter Stanley and the niece of Grammy award winner Ralph Stanley of Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys. Having such a background, of course, I love old-time mountain music and bluegrass music. I've been listening to it as long as I can remember. My father and my uncle, known as "The Stanley Brothers" moved to Live Oak, FL in 1958 singing on the radio for Jim Walter Homes. I was born and raised in north central Florida although my three brothers, my sister and the rest of my family all hail from the state of Virginia. Living in Florida, I was very cut off from my roots and the music. I have always loved this music and after my mother's death in November of 1990, I did some soul searching and decided I was going to pursue a career in the music business. This was something I had dreamed of since childhood. In the early 1990's, I moved to Niota, TN and put a band of my own together. I had begun booking some shows and making progress. I played rhthym guitar, sang lead and had started doing some writing of my own because I wanted to use some original material, too. I always knew I wanted to keep the traditional "Stanley sound" but I realized that being female would give new flavor to the timeless eloquent lyrics of my father's songs. Due to mounting marital problems and a separation, I returned to my native Florida in the spring of 1995 to try and work things out because I was committed to my marriage. I divorced 3 years later.
I am now remarried and have a fabulous job here which keeps me very busy but my love of the music and the pull of the road remain constant.Myspace Layouts and SO much more from WhateverLife.com! ♥
