About Me

Marko was born in Lake Placid, New York. He grew up listening to his parent’s music, which included everything from pop to classical, from soul to rock. Marko got his musicality from both of his parents. His father is a musician and composes music for himself. His mother just loves music.Marko taught himself to play the guitar at 11, later forming a couple bands in high school. Soon he began to realize music was his passion; not school or sports. He played clubs in a metal band in and around Minneapolis where he grew up. Somewhere along the line Marko abandoned the metal riffs for clean, lush, jazz chords. Discovering jazz opened a whole new world of possibilities for the young buck. Then his father, who really loved funky music and synthesizers, decided to buy his son a sampler. One with a floppy drive! Marko finally learned how to use the thing by the time he got to Music Tech of Minneapolis in 97. By this time he was teaching himself keys, bass, and drums, while acquiring a production/engineering degree in 98. After moving to Boston shortly after, Marko met up with his crib mate and future partner in crime, Tari. Tari had been ding this stuff called house music for a while, which led to him playing Marko a track that hooked him for life. Dialect-Sitting in The Sun.the original mix.In 99, Marko met producer Dana Kelley a.k.a., DKMA while working at a gigantic musical instrument shop in Boston. Dana had later heard a CD Tari was playing of Marko’s in Satellite where Tari worked, and snagged it. He sent it to Rick Salzer, A&R of Under Cover Music Group in NYC. Rick saw fit for a release on Plastic City, then 9/11 happened. Marko inspired by 9/11 and other personal events , wrote The Good People. Later to be his 1st official single to be released on Bananza Music. Marko kept making all kinds of music including house, and in 03 formed the music duo, TradeMarq, with pal Tari. The two began making music that is now out on Dot Bleep, Uniform, Innuendo, Mother Tongue, Bananza, and soon Dirty Trick. TradeMarq also have two tracks licensed to Collette and DJ Heathers House of Om mix CD. Coconut Lamp on DotBleep and Orange Julius on Bananza.Aside from the success of TradeMarq, Marko has had music licensed to a few CDs as well. Upset Words on Logic Trance 5 mixed by John Debo, The Good People on Fabric 21 mixed by Heather, and now Lose Control out on Om Summer Sessions. The Good People has been remixed by Ted Patterson, and will be released on Frankie Knuckles new label, Noice. Marko also has an e.p. Coming out on DJ Heathers imprint BlackCherry, slated for a spring 07 release. As well as the 06 fall jam, Turning Leaves". On the new NYC imprint, Dirty Trick. With a remix by The Sound Republic.
