I work hard at keeping myself grounded, focused, in front of the fans and media, and speaking at wonderful charity events for women and children (this is my favorite part of what I do). I have a great and well- experienced camp/team. I affectionately refer to these individuals as the “Knights of the Round Table.†They are all here to guide US to WBC Super Middleweight and Middleweight Championship. My manager is Steve Foss. He specializes in working with top female athletes. He is widely known and respected in the track and field industry. My head trainer/chief second is Dub Huntley. He is in the Hall of Fame. The book Million Dollar Baby was dedicated to him. He was also a middleweight champion during his amateur career and he fought professionally. He trained Laila Ali (who is the champ of our weight division) and Julio Gonzales who was the former light heavyweight champion. My second unit trainer is Adolph Pruitt (my secret weapon). He has fought for the WBC/WBA 3 times in his boxing career. He is an inspiration to me. My cut man is Cassius Green. He keeps us all looking good! He protects us from swelling and bad cuts. He cuts for Laila Ali, Sugar Shane Mosley, and a lot of well-known boxers.
JUST A MOMENT---I would just like to say THANK YOU to MySpace, Tom, and all of the people who have added/joined my MySpace spot. I have been on just a short while and I have been embraced by amazingly creative old and new friends from around the world Update: Everyone has excitedly asked the infamous t-shirt question. Unfortunately, the man who is going to print the shirts is in the hospital. I called to check on him about a week ago and he is still not well. His team member, who works for Disney, designed the shirt. They are all anticipating a great turnout for the shirt but right now a medical condition is taking priority. I’m sure within the next couple of months the shirts will be ready to go. We thank you for your interest and patience. ~~~~I have been trying to get around and join some things, make some comments, and at some point add a video but my time has been limited. I’m sure you want me to just focus on knocking her OUT Mike Tyson style **smile**. So THANK YOU and I appreciate all the love, support, and warm wishes. I would also like to say that although I love and appreciate all the creative people who added stylish comments on the page (I still don't know how to do that) to please kick it down just a little bit. The trouble is some of comments are too big and it takes longer to load the page for everyone else. I understand their complaint and I hope this little adjustment helps everyone. So can you please leave those very inspired comments and videos on the message feature instead? I will get a chance to view and read everything. It might take me a few extra days to get back to you but believe me I’m trying to do just that. I recently watched the 2006 ROCKY BALBOA movie which is now on DVD. I really enjoyed the movie but what stood out the most was the scene outside of their family restaurant in which Rocky shares a little wisdom with his son about life and choices---ROCKY is speaking to his SON: "Let me tell you something that you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is going to hit as hard as LIFE. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving FORWARD. How much you can take and keep moving FORWARD. That’s how WINNING is done! Now if you know what you’re worth; go out and get what you’re worth. But you’ve got to be willing to take the hits and NOT pointing fingers and saying you ain’t where you want to be because of him, or her, or anybody. COWARDS do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!"

Movies/Television/Music: I migrate towards sci-fi, action adventure, suspense dramas, and romantic comedies. Television: Random... it goes with my mood! I will say that I have all 9 seasons of the X-Files and all 6 seasons of Xena: Warrior Princess. You will also find the Fox series 24. There is a lot of suspense in that show. Desperate Housewives, Lost, 24, American Idol, and Grey's Anatomy. I don’t like to limit myself but you would find these shows amongst my collection. I am also a huge soap opera fan: Young and the Restless, All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. Of course, my favorite "showtime" is... FIGHT NIGHT! I love watching all BOXING events. From the classics to present... boxing lights up my soul.*****MUSIC--- Before I fight, I listen to fight music and rap. Of course, my CD BEAT DOWN designed by Tha Sho-Shot Allstars on my top friends list. Artists like Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem. They pump me up! Other times it is completely different like Melissa Etheridge, Janet Jackson, and Reba McEntire (I also watch her show). It is definitely a spectrum!*****
I enjoy reading books ranging from poetry to novels. I take a special interest in people such as Senator Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, etc. I also read for fun. As far as magazines go, you might find anything on my table: Oprah’s, People, the Advocate, Script, variety of cooking magazines, French Marie Claire, and top fashion magazines featuring the short list... Prada, Gucci, Versace, Fendi, Chloe, Dolce-Gabbana, and Balenciaga.

I was absolutely honored to participate in this special event. The San Gabriel Valley Tribune covered the event:Hard knocks Boxer speaks to elementary students at anti-drug rally DIAMOND BAR - The two fighters glared at each other, anxiously waiting for the bell to ring. "Lets have a clean fight," said the referee.Bing!Both fighters sprang from their corners and leapt at each other. The audience waved their hands and cheered for their prized fighter, Bulldog Barry, and booed the opponent, Cigarette Smoking Joe.After a few quick punches Cigarette Smoking Joe was out for the count, too out of breath to continue the round.The audience quickly learned that smoking leads to defeat."Don't do drugs, it's a dead-end road," said Demi Nguyen, 34.Nguyen, a professional boxer and eight-year Diamond Bar resident, spoke to the kids at Maple Hill Elementary's Knock Out Drugs assembly Oct. 25 to coincide with national Red Ribbon Week.Teachers dressed as cigarettes, boxers, trainers and referees and battled it out in the ring."It's important for kids to remember what they are taught about drugs," said Kelly Morris, third-grade teacher and member of the Pep committee who planned the assembly.Dressed in red shirts, the kids cheered for Bulldog Barry and Exciting Esse as they each took their turn battling Cigarette Smoking Joe who coughed and heaved during the bouts."You make my teeth turn yellow," said Bulldog Barry before she punched him in the nose."And you contain arsenic," added Exciting Esse.The fighters yelled out facts about the harmful effects drugs cause in hopes to reach the children."I learned not to smoke 'cause you can get different cancers," said third-grader Jenna Canova, 8.Gloria Lee, 8, agreed that smoking was a "gross" habit."Smoking is bad for your insides and makes you have a shorter life and causes cancer," she said.Nguyen, who was accompanied by trainer Dub Huntley who has trained Laila Ali, also offered some insight on the use of drugs."If you want to be a boxer you have to be strong, healthy and focused," she said.To prove how important staying focused is, she and Deputy Richard Wright of the Success Through Awareness and Resistance Unit, asked the kids several questions about the consequences of taking drugs.The first student to correctly answer the question received a pair of professional fighting gloves signed by Nguyen.One by one the kids took a jab at the question until fifth-grader Zachary Lu, 10, came up with the correct answer."I remembered the answers 'cause I have an activity book and I learned it at this school," he said.The school continued anti-drug activities until the end of Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 27."It is amazing that our little school got the privilege of having the presence of a professional boxer," Morris said.
