Daydreaming, Film, Theater, Photography, Painting, Knitting, Being Weird and Crafty, Sleeping, Esoterica, Camp, Melodrama (not the real-life variety, mind you), Astrology, Mythology, Tarot Reading, Quantum Physics, Asia Argento, Vintage Clothing, Surrealism, Pretty Colors, Cute Animals.
And Alan Rickman, but for purely superficial and vaguely obscene reasons. See also: Hugh Laurie as Dr. House, Peter Murphy and Robert Smith circa the early eighties.
As for the real world, I'd like to meet people who are sweet, real, passionate, polite, funny, creative, intelligent, and sane.
Anything on 4AD, The Cure, Tom Waits, Siouxsie, The Smiths, Leadbelly, Kate Bush, Brian Eno, The Almighty Bowie, Cranes, Magnetic Fields, Rasputina, PJ Harvey, really old blues, Regina Spektor, Edith Piaf, and a whooooooole bunch of other stuff.
Lynch, Waters, Svankmajer, Todd Solondz, Jiri Barta, Cronenberg, Quay, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Fritz Lang, Bunuel, Maddin, Argento, Cocteau, Miike, Jarmusch, Hitchcock, Kubrick, Fellini, Scorsese, Cassavettes, Grey Gardens, Man Bites Dog, Sunset Boulevard, The Apartment, The Usual Suspects, Heathers, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Pandora's Box, The Spirit Of The Beehive, Wild Strawberries, The Third Man, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Secretary, The Red Shoes, Crumb, Haxan, Mirrormask, Whatever Happened To Baby Jane, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, Die Mommie Die, Psycho Beach Party, But I'm A Cheerleader, The Big Lebowski, Fargo, Raising Arizona, Ed Wood, The Neverending Story, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Paris Texas, Henry and June, anything with W.C. Fields, anything with Peter Lorre, and the Evil Dead trilogy. Oh, and Top Hat. I often stay up way too late watching TCM. I also love Vincent Price movies, especially at four in the morning.
Twin Peaks, Carnivale, Ren and Stimpy, Rome, Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Kids In The Hall, Pee Wee's Playhouse, MST3K, Dead Like Me, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder, A Bit Of Fry And Laurie, Absolutely Fabulous, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Strangers With Candy, Mr. Bean, TV Funhouse, Wonder Showzen, lots of stuff on the science channel, House, and Max Fleischer cartoons. I watch television less and less these days. It mostly just collects dust and provides another surface to pile books on.
Some books I like:
