Versatility and remarkable personality are the main features of Vinicius Romão, a.k.a. DJ Vinnix, 21 years old, has already passed by some interesting experiences in the national trance scene, like playing on the biggest festival in Brazil, the Universo Paralello, and actively participating in the first psychedelic meeting of Maranhão estate, the Fora do Tempo Festival.
Unlike many DJs, who appeared with the growth of rave parties in Brazil, Vinnix started getting involved with e-music very early, when the scene was still considered underground. So he had the opportunity to follow all the growth, therefore formed his own personality and opinion about it.
In the beginning of his career he played drum n’ bass, and breakbeat, influenced by the British old school, but never stopped studying and searching new sources of electronic music. In 2001 while in Bahia’s festival he got interested in the psychedelic trance’s essence.
Vinnix identified himself with the style and the trance parties’ atmosphere, and went deep inside the knowledge about the artists. Only after improving in this area he felt prepared to play psychedelic trance professionally.
The public acceptance was so great that in the very first year, Vinnix was invited to play in some parties all over the country. With a peculiar style, playing songs which were not focused in the “commercial†segment, the DJ started to be guest to play in some of the main festivals in Brazil, like Universo Paralello (where he played two editions), Tranceformation (at the 2006 carnival) and Fora do Tempo Festival in the same year, a meeting which provided serious music and lots of opportunities to new artists.
His style varies among the progressive sources, pumping and grooves textures influenced by the European style specially the ones produced in Germany and Scandinavia, and the full on with futuristic melodies and phat bass lines typical of the trance produced in England and South Africa.
The DJ does the perfect transition among these styles, and can be easily included in a trance party or a club at any time.
Enthusiastically exposing people to new sounds at every possible opportunity intends to start studying e-music production, in order to present his own compositions to the public very soon.
Meanwhile, his knowledge and studies are totally applied to his sets. Vinnix mixes songs with compatible melodies, harmonization that works like a story, with a beginning, a development and an ending, creating a perfect psychedelic atmosphere.
