The Quad City Parrot Head Club was sanctioned in December 2003
as one of over 200 world wide “Parrot Heads in Paradise†member clubs,
with a total membership of over 25,000 dedicated fun-loving Parrot Heads.
We are a collection of people of all ages and backgrounds who embrace the
music of Jimmy Buffett and the lifestyle he writes about. We also believe in
leaving things just a little better than we found them, and having a BLAST
while doing it … something we like to call “partying with a purpose!â€
In 2005, Parrot Head Clubs collectively raised for and/or donated
$2,705,115 to charitable organizations, a 22.8% increase from 2004!
Additionally, chapters worldwide donated over 663,543 man-hours
to philanthropic and environmental activities, an astounding 64%
increase from last year!
Over the past year: Our annual fundraiser allowed us to donate $21,000 to our chosen local children's organizations. We collected 48 fans for the local Beat the Heat program, 32 pairs of mittens for a local mitten drive, 44 packages of diapers and over $100 for a local crisis pregnancy center, and more than 50 toys for the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots program. We have collected can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, and cell phones for domestic violence victims. We participate in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk and in Muscular Dystrophy Association events and we help the Association for Retarded Citizens raise funds through their local fundraising event. We are a major sponsor of the Student Hunger Drive. We have adopted a stretch of road, conducting roadside cleanups four times a year. We also joined hundreds of other local volunteers to help with the Xstream Cleanup of our waterways. And not only did we donate the money to help Family Resources buy new playground equipment, we helped them assemble the equipment once it arrived.
The Quad City Parrot Head Club has grown in less than three years to
almost 600 members, making us the 6th largest Parrot Head Club!
