The first tune has been mastered but the rest havnt been yet ..
I like to think of my music like surfing, you have two different styles of surfing shortboarding and longboarding, shortboarding is very flashy and looks good lots of fast moves and quite aggressive.
Longboarding is more of a personal journey its about the glide and using the waves power to work with the wave its very soulful and can change your perspective on life. It brings you very close to nature and the power of the ocean.
When you are surfing on a wave its living in the moment nothing else matters you are in the zone
I am a long board surfer and a singer/songwriter guitarist.
I use a Guild D25 nothing flashy about it apart from its sound which is warm and deep.
I first started playing guitar so that I could play blues old trad blues and I have been lucky enough to find some great players over a few years which I have picked up some tips and licks from.
But for the past year since I started listening to Nick drake and John Martyn more I have been playing contemporary folk. I have always messed around with weird tunings on the guitar so when I heard black eyed dog by Nick Drake I was blown away cos its a tuning I have been playing around with for a while.
I was just amazed at how simple but effective Nick Drakes tunes are, that led me to working out his other tunings and styles.
The recordings I've done are quick and live, one take just me and my guitar mistakes and all.
I have only just recently started composing my own stuff.I've just started playing live in and around York; you may have seen me play at the Pocklington art centre on open mike night.Im influenced by the late great Nick Drake and other guitarists like Rainer, Isaac Guilory, Ben Harper, Rycooder to name but a few.
