About Me

Hi my name is Carmelina. I was born in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico in a small town called Moca; which is located on the West Coast. As most of the people that move to the US, I too moved here following my dreams. I thank God for blessing me with a great experience thus far. I've learned that opportunities will always be there, it's all about the willingness to work hard to get what you want out of life.
My friends call me Carm. I describe myself as fun, no nonsense, spunky and really silly. I love to laugh and make people laugh! By profession, I'm an Interior Designer with over 14 years experience and my specialty is designing Corporate, Healthcare and Hospitality type projects. I feel really blessed because I love what I do and this is the key ingredient to being happy with anything in life. I'm proud to be fluent in both Spanish and English. I say I feel proud because a lot of people dismiss the importance of staying connected to your roots. I know lots of Latin Americans that live in the US who don't speak Spanish because they feel supressed and don't like speaking Spanish because they live in America. To me that is just obnoxious!
One of the biggest misconceptions about me is that people think I'm American but I'm proud to be 100% Puertorican. I'm an only child but come from a large family. My grandmother had 18 kids and adopted my Godmother as kid number 19. With a large family like that, you grow up with little resources and live thru lots of struggles on a day to day basis. One sure thing we grew up with was a great sense of Family, that's why my family and friends mean everything to me.
Among things I love, you'll find Architecture, Photography, Dancing (absolutely LOVE to Dance Salsa, Bachata and Merengue)! I love to stay fit and enjoy all kinds of sports. I'm looking forward to my first sky diving experience in 2007 and want to try Skiing and Snow boarding this year for sure!
On a philosophical level, I'm a huge advocate of Green Building design to help protect our environment. As Architects and Designers we're bound to make the most impact with the way we design our spaces. I try to educate my Clients and friends about environmental awareness because we need to make some serious changes about how we're living our lives. I highly recommend everyone see the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" with AL Gore, it's one of the best movies to bring a sense of reality to all the crazy weather changes we've been experiencing. This movie basically describes what we're doing to Earth and where we're going! Go rent it and share the word with your friends.
The person that means the most to me in my life is my Mom. I would never be here without her continuos courage, support and guidance, she's the most amazing person I've ever met in my life! She's always expected the best from me and this has always kept me motivated. Knowingly, she's seen me fail at times but her faith in me to make the right decisions has always prevailed. Another important person in my life is Tony Robbins, the worlds greatest mentor that has ever existed. I attended one of his seminars 4 years ago and he absolutely changed my life, I owe him the fact that I'm living out my dream today!
Last but not least, I believe in being mindful about where you are in life and where you want to go... don't let life pass you by and then regret it later. Oh, and don't be stereotypical and blame others for you not taking action and being self-defeated... Be mindful, it's your life, you must take action today not tomorrow... live out your dream every day, we all have the power to do it! I tried it and believe me it works!I edited my profile at Freeweblayouts.net , check out these Myspace Layouts!
