HUGE thanks to Matt Hovanec and JJ Dreier for their help in putting this video together. The song in this video doesn't really reflect the direction we're going in, but at least it's new!
FROZEN EMBERS - "My Pokémons (Let Me Show You Them)"
Frozen Embers is a five-piece metal/thrash/death metal band centered in Omaha, Nebraska. Formed in late 2004 by Alex Kinnerk and Billy Liebermann at the ripe ages of 15 and 14 respectively, the two began recruiting members at their high-school. The two found guitarist Peter Koneck-Wilcox, bassist Pat O'Grady, and singer Aaron "Smallz" Roberts for their initial line-up. The original line-up was very fond of the traditional heavy metal and hard rock sound, covering Velvet Revolver and Metallica at their first string of concerts.
After releasing their first demo the Hell Freezes Over EP, to rough reviews, Frozen Embers began a long string of line-up changes that plagued the band until late December of 2005. After playing 4-5 shows with a different line-up each time, the co-founder Alex and Billy recruited screamer/guitarist Matt Kathol, shredder Matt Thomson, and bassist Adam Guiffredo (later replaced by current bassist, Jay Jacobson) to complete the metal fivesome. After playing several shows with the likes of national and regional acts such as Destruction, Into Eternity, Cellador, Suicide Silence, All Shall Perish, Too Pure To Die, Light this City, Kingston Falls, Demise of Eros, Grace Gale, Gary Gonzalez, and Coliseum, along with many local favorites Anonyma, Fury Never Fades, Boths Guns Blazing, Dead of Dawn, Deadtooth, and several other Omaha names, the band realized they had stumbled upon something very special.
The band entered the studio again in early March of 2006, to re-record the Hell Freezes Over EP and to add extra tracks to the arsenal to compose the new, and improved Six Feet of Silence EP. Taking elements from death and black metal, and combining it with the original components of thrash and heavy metal, the band continues to brew their original blend of pain-stakingly technical and brutal metal. With a new demo, a fresh, young, and talented line-up, and the determination to bring quality metal to Omaha, Frozen Embers is poised to bring the best aspects of early 80's metal, thrash, black metal, and melodic death metal, and combining them with elements of todays modern metal.
