Melanie Calvert Benton (a.k.a,) "Dahlia Patton" is a retired respiratory care practitioner who now works with her first loves, photography and writing. While running a successful photography business for years, she only recently turned to writing a novel through the urgings of her husband Western Fiction Writer W.R. Benton. Melanie’s photography has appeared on the covers of all four of Mister Benton’s "The Drum Series" and soon will be gracing her own books. Her first book, "A Southern Moon Rising," has been released and available for purchase.An avid outdoorswoman, she enjoys C. B. radio, deer hunting, fishing, camping, and of course, outdoor photography. She prefers the smell of wood smoke, the crackling of a fire late at night, and the serenity of nature, to a fast-paced life in a big city. I do some writing myself with several different writers groups in the state of Ms. I have made several tv appearances relating to my photography work in conjunction with a series of civil war- western fiction books put out by writer: " W. I love to deer hunt, fish, four- wheeler ride, go horse-back riding,camping and shooting civil war reenactments ! I love long country rides where I can get scenic nature shots with my Canon camera. I also into radio broadcasting (cb) on a small scale.

I am a country gal with a social side and love children and old people and was taught to respect my elders.... I am a Christian and I believe in God and I know in my heart if I die I will go to heaven...Also about my native american ancestory.. I am: scots - Irish, German, Choctaw and Blackfoot.I am either the great-great granddaughter of Mississippi Choctaw Chief "GREENWOOD LEFLORE" Or: "CHIEF NATCHEZ" from Natchez, Ms. ( My grandmother who was part blackfoot has passed away so I can't tell you which.)I am associated with the Western Writers of America through my husband W.
