I was born and reared in Chicago, Illinois by the most precious and spirited parents, the late, Rev. Van B. Watts and Missionary Ruby Watts.
I was fortunate to have 10 siblings, 7 brothers and 3 sisters, we were taught by the best, to love and to respond to love in the most dignified and Chirstian way. To love in spite of, not because of; to always be considerate of others feelings and to respect a person for who they are, not in their own minds, but for who they really are.
I began singing at the age of 5 years old, and when I was taught to read, my favorites books were and still are the Holy Bible and any Gospel Hynm Book. I could memorize verses and sing them along with my parents and siblings at home and at the Greater Progressive Baptist Church where my dear Father pastored. My Mom would sing those hymns and traditional gospel songs, either before or following a dynamic sermon by my Dad. I carry the teaching and solid upbringing until this day.. I know how to go in and out among God's people and I conduct myself in a respectful manner at all times, especially when in God's Holy Temple.
We are often misunderstood, but that goes with the territory, I know in whom I have believed. God is my Rock and my Stay. God is the strength of my life and I will always trust in His word and never doubt what He says. I keep an open ear and a ready heart to hear his voice and to immediately obey.
I have five beautiful children, Lori Kyles Cleveland;(Pastor Alfonzo) Joseph B. Kyles;(Ava ) Alva Lei, Rubi Rene and Kora Kishe' Green and 10 precious grand children.
I am happy for the Pastors that I have had the pleasure of serving under in various capacities; the late, Rev. Milton Brunson; the late Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson; Rev. James L. Netters; Rev. Al Green (my former husband and the father of my three daughters), Rev. Samuel Billy Kyles and currently my Pastor, Apostle Richard Daniel Henton.
I am a vocal coach and voice instructor specializing in training children and adults alike. It is important to remember and sing hymns as much as you possibly can, the message in a hymn can get you through the toughest of times.
