Divine Purpose is a contemporary gospel duo, consisting of two first cousins, Porsche Harris, 28 and LaMeshia Shaw, 25. Both Porsche and LaMeshia were born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. They were introduced to music very early in their lives through church and through the entire Shaw family, who sings and writes music. Divine Purpose brings a unique sound that separates them from many other groups. They combine the sounds of jazz, r&b, traditional gospel, neo-soul, inspirational, and contemporary gospel, to create a melodic sound that can not be duplicated.God is doing a quick work with Divine Purpose. Since their first debut in April 2006, they have had numerous engagements across the United States. They have been blessed with the opportunity to share the stage with some of the worlds most talented singers, songwritters and musicians, including Marla Gibbs, Vashawn Mitchell & Friends, and the Williams Brothers. Both Porsche and LaMeshia are dynamic songwriters and have teamed up with Tyrice (Blaque Ty) Lollis and John (J Keys) Brister to work on their first Album entitled "Perfect Serenity," in which they wrote every song including "In Your Way" which won Porsche honorable mention from the Billboard World Song Contest 2004. In August 2006, the groups first single "D.A.N.C.E."which was written by LaMeshia, was voted into rotation on Chicago's 102.3FM. In April 2007 they were blessed with the oppurtunity to do a live taping of the Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel show, which airs on BET. This group has something for all ages, denominations, and ethnic backgrounds. Be on the look out for Porsche, and LaMeshia, they are determined to make sure that their purpose is fulfilled.
