About Me

Rodney Stepp Veteran keyboardist, songwriter, and producer Rodney Stepp is joined by four awesomely talented and seasoned musicians referred to as Rodney Stepp & BSB. With Steve Cooper on trumpet, flugelhorn and EVI (Electronic Valve Instrument), brothers Bruce Lismon on drums and Koknosh Lismon on bass, and Lloyd Joe Logan on keyboards, this band delivers, with an energy that continually excites and delights audiences everywhere.Rodney Stepp & BSBs first CD, Steppin Out, released on the BSM / Smuve Gruve Records label, has been well received by fans and critics alike and has received much radio airplay. BSM Records is an outgrowth of Brooks Street Music, now known as "RODNEY STEPP MUSIC PRODUCTIONS" music production and recording company, Rodney started in his basement in 1984 with two of his childhood buddies, Pheldon Majors and James Walker, Jr. Named after the street in Indianapolis where he grew up, Brooks Street Music has moved out of the basement and has grown into a viable, thriving, state-of-the-art production and recording studio. The studio not only does tracks for vocalists and groups, but also creates original music for commercials, videos, and Business Theater. A partial list of RODNEY STEPP MUSIC PRODUCTIONS clients include: The Childrens Museum, Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. (IDI), The Indiana Pacers, The Kentucky Lottery, The Hoosier Lottery, Hardees, Holiday Inn, ESPN, WXIN (Fox 59), Corporate Creations and United Airlines.Rodney returns to the performing arena full force. He was a keyboardist with The Spinners (70's & 80's) and Sister Sledge and was one of several American artists who played at the Rumble In The Jungle, (Ali-Foreman) Zaire Africa celebration that featured among others, Etta James, Bill Withers, and James Brown. This was during the two weeks of concerts that led up to the famous Foreman/Ali prizefight. Rodney can be seen in Muhammad Alis "When We Were Kings" full-length documentary with clips of the Rumble In The Jungle. You can also hear Rodneys keyboard wizardry on The Spinners Live album recorded at the Latin Casino. Rodney is most revered for his organ solo on The Spinners hit Mighty Love. He also joined the group in 1990 when they opened for Jay Leno at Caesars Palace, Oct. 1999, at the Hard Rock Cafe, Dallas Texas and again in 2004 at The Snake Pit Ball (Indianapolis 500 Mile race Event) in Indianapolis IN.Rodney has been the leader of other bands, (Rapture, The Diplomats, Jazzie Cazzie & The 7 Sounds) as well as a musician, songwriter, arranger, and/or producer on many R&B, Gospel, and commercial projects. Rodney (Brooks Street Music), recently produced Erica Edmonds Davis, (currently with Kirk Franklin) a contemporary gospel artist whose first gospel album project was released with Higher Power Records, Indianapolis IN. He also produced new songs on The Spinners and is currently writing and producing for many artists from Gospel to Hip/Hop genres. Rodney is working on his next contemporary jazz and inspirational project for release in the fall of 2008.Rodney currently is the keyboardist for an Indianapolis Rock group, The Flying Toasters. Also be looking out for compilations with DJ Edge. Dr. Funk and DJ Edge are about to set the musical world on fire. RSMP has teamed with The Cultural Caravan company (LaChelle Stepp, Esq./CEO)on an educational Spanish CD/DVD project and other artist in the midwest writing, developing artist and finding homes for their songs.
