About Me
At an early age, I knew I had soul. Growing up in Chicago, I was raised on pop, R&B, and any song with a little bit of funk. I loudly sang the words and moved to the beats of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Jody Watley, Bel Biv Devoe, Arrested Development, Digable Planets, Alanis Morissette, and Lauryn Hill.
I love music and have and will do anything in my power to make it the focal point of my existence. I finally took up the acoustic guitar in high school and continued strumming away until I could play a pop song. I started my music career at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, regularly cranking out popular tunes at a local pub called The Fluttering Duck. I quickly became addicted to playing for audiences and soon dabbled in open mic nights in Chicago. I opened shows for local bands and continued to strive for a better, more professional sound.
In 2002, I moved to Indianapolis, and continued to write my own songs. I tried out some of these original tunes, as well as some old favorites, with a local artist named Kim Archer. In 2005, I finally found my home singing background vocals for a talented local R&B artist named Andrew Young. This group has given me great confidence to continue pursuing this musical avenue that has always been inside of me.
Jayson Conley, otherwise known as Supa J, has devoted his heart and passion for music in creating my wonderful CD of all original music. He showcases his percussion and mixing talents on every track. Local and talented keyboard player Bennie Owens has also added his natural gift to many of my original tracks.
Thanks to everyone in my group, Andrew, Jayson, Bennie, Krista, and Jenny, I have truly realized that music is not just a thing I do, it is who I am. Please take a minute to listen to my tracks. Look out for my upcoming CD, “Silly Me†this fall!
