MyGen Profile GeneratorAshford Rocks! was never meant to be what it has turned out to be, it all started when a young drummer, my son, was playing in a kids band. They couldn't find anywhere to play, so being the caring father, and remembering my own deseperate desire to be a Radio Luxemburg DJ back in the 70's but didn't get any help, I decided to hire the local football clubs function hall and put on a gig.
We invited a few other bands along to play who were in the same position, they were, One Eyed Porridge, Underground Pheonix, Celestial Anxiety, Hindsight and my sons band Monkey Punch. I hired in a PA system and engineered it myself, hence the naff levels :-)
It was such a success that the FC and many of the kids that came along wanted more, I could see there was a desperate need in this one horse town for somewhere for the young up and coming bands to be heard, Ashford Rocks! was born.
It has now become a major player in the local music scene, Bands from all over the country and indeed abroad have heard of it and want to play there, unfortunaley there are only so many days in a year and only so many Gigs I can put on, but it all goes to show just how many young, talented youngsters, and Tribute bands there are out there that need to be heard. Listen up peeps, the Beatles had to start somewhere.
