Formed in 1996 while Mitch Malice was still in secondary school, it wasn't until college days when he met Tipsy Tej & Redz that Smooth Connection finally became a complete sound.
After plenty of hard work, they went from playing at local house parties to being residents at the successful nights including Confunktion VIP and the long-running La Cosa Nostra.
Now, with the addition of the multi-talented entertainer Butch Kassidy, and the first lady of Smooth, Miss Philly, Smooth Connection has truly stepped up a level. Each mastering their own talent, they have managed to create a sound quite different from your average 'same old' DJ. Witnessing Smooth Connection play means seeing Redz, Butch, Philly & Malice juggling Rnb, Hip-Hop, old skool Funk & Soul, Ragga, Soca, Garage and sentimental Jungle with Tipsy Tej getting the crowd involved with his unique brand of energetic and humorous MCing.
Their incredible ability to switch music genres during a set and still keep the crowd as hype and entertained as ever, has caught the eyes of other DJ's and promoters alike, seeing the guys play in various venues and popular club nights throughout the UK. Back To 95 at London's super clubs Heaven & Ministry of Sound, Twice As Nice in Bristol's popular Creations, Pulse & Vogue in Stevenage, and Roadblock in Hull mentions but a few of their travels.
The close relationship formed between Smooth Connection and the record label superpower, BMG Entertainment (now SonyBMG), means they can also add a stellar list of celebrity functions to their name; the Biggie Smallz album launch party at Gass club, Faith Evans at the exclusive Red Cube, Usher and P. Diddy events in both Manchester and Birmingham; not to mention how they recently supported Angie Stone on the UK leg of her tour, opening her show alongside Chilli Source and the BMG Street Team.
As well as plying their trade in clubs around the nation, Smooth are locking down the London airwaves currently hosting shows on Unique FM, Station FM, Juice FM & Extreme FM.
Smooth Connection's talents are not confined to Djing and promoting though. In the pipeline the crew are working on management, music & video production, and expansion of their website to name but a few things up their collective sleeves. The boys realise that there is still a lot of hard work to be done so they are constantly looking for new and innovative ways in which to differentiate themselves from the rest.
